    Manufacturers Servicing Requirements?

No, not at all - it's good to get a breadth of answers and opinions. Is that not the point of forums after all? A dealer would have given me one answer i.e. his opinion. I appreciate all the answers, and am now in a better position to make a decision, so thanks to everyone.

    Manufacturers Servicing Requirements?

Yes, that's what I thought. My old man's a Land Rover dealer, so stamping isn't a problem! Only problem is he's in the Isle of Man and I'm in Cheltenham! Think I'll get it properly serviced here and go from there...

    Manufacturers Servicing Requirements?

Sorry, it's a Td4 Automatic. Got the Haynes manual and it's pretty god, but I was looking for a nice complete comprehensive list!! Thanks for replies so far... Oscar

    Manufacturers Servicing Requirements?

Hi All, Recently had credit with the aa so took out their £65 per annum breakdown repair option (£25 excess/£500 repair - 5 times a year). Sounds pretty good, but I can imagine them trying to weasel out of it if something goes wrong!! All they seem to want to make sure of is...

HDC light on F4 Flashing 1 gear select only.

I had a very very similar problem recently. Mine was the electrical connection near the battery that was faulty. Again, no error codes, and in 'limp home' mode (feels like 4th). My HDC wasn't flashing though. Worth a try though...

    (Very) Intermittent non-starter Td4

Will do. I'll probably actually wait until it's more of a persistent problem, but thanks for all the advice - at least I'll know where to start when it does become more persistent!! Cheers, Oscar

Thanks chaps, that gives me something to go on. So it could be... Dodgy Fuel Pump Dodgy Injectors, including possible Leak Off (seems most likely?) Cam Sensor (seems most likely?) Dodgy wiring somewhere Crank Sensors Fuel Rail sensor Be good to know where the cam sensor is located. Anybody...

    (Very) Intermittent non-starter Td4

Hi All, Got a Td4 with 91k on the clock, and a slightly worrying fault has occurred twice - Saturday and this evening -with it absolutely fine and normal all the rest of the time. Basically, first turn of the key it nearly fires, then it just turns over without starting. Turn right off and...

    Hand cranking Td4...I've been a total @*&$!

Just to clarify - he wasn't there whilst I put the water in the wrong hole, just for the emergency call afterwards, and from then on as a consultant! He is actually an army mechanic, and a feckin good one at that, so don't start throwing insults around please. His advice worked perfectly, and...

    Hand cranking Td4...I've been a total @*&$!

Believe me it's not a wind up, I only wish it was! I think what happened was that water was overflowing from where I was inserting it into the i'cooler (i.e not a lot was going in and most was coming straight back out), and therefore from the bottom looked as if something was exiting the...

    Hand cranking Td4...I've been a total @*&$!

Right, a nice evening spent! Removed manifold, and on bro's recommendation started her up once I'd cranked her manually a few (30 odd) times. Would have removed injectors but didn't have the correct equipment (deep 10mm socket). Not that I was ignoring all the advice, but if...

    Hand cranking Td4...I've been a total @*&$!

The other thing I forgot to mention is that its been sitting overnight and all of today, so likely some (all?) water may have found it's way past the pistons into the sump

If I have the inlet manifold off, will this not 'unseal' the combustion chamber?

    Hand cranking Td4...I've been a total @*&$!

Firstly let me say that I have already had a sleepless night and have considered self flagellation as a punishment for this, so please don't lay into me too hard. :( Basically, I thought I'd flush the coolant system after I had to mix coolants after doing some previous work. An easy job, so I...

    Opened bonnet...BUT..what an awful design!?!

After finally getting round to try and fix my bonnet release cable that had snapped, I found quite an easy way to undo the bonnet with the cable snapped. Basically, bend the plastic grille down, hold it open with something plastic to stop damage to the bonnet, and you can undo the 2 bolts one...

Bonnet release cable snapped. Any ideas??

Hi all, Pretty much what it says on the tin. My bonnet release cable has snapped, and the bonnet is shut. Think I need to go in behind the radiator, but if anyone has had the same problem, advice would be much appreciated... Thanks, Oscar
