Seems altogether a well worthwhile conversion. Good tip on colours matching by using TDI fuse board:) I will on the basis of that go down that route. Will keep a photo diary and let anyone who interested know how easy/fiddly a job it is.

When you say "bit of cutting" are we talking a relatively easy diy job to change over or am i better switching to a generic blade fuse holder such as listed on ebay? Defo gonna change as having just too many problems and continuity across old fuses is hit and miss

Been having one or two leccy gremlins to say the least and are toying with the idea of converting to a blade fuse holder as opposed to the old glass type. Anyone done this or know whether it is a worthwhile conversion?

Update for those with similar problem: Looks like the fault is either the front indicator lens area, rear wiring pod, trailer socket but not 100% sure which. Twiddled with front indicator lens Twiddled with wiring in rear pod behind lights Indicators began to work as should.... Also...

yes it has a trailer socket, two sockets, one connected with scotch connectors. i will defo remove it to isolate from circuit. I twiddled with cables in rear right pod and the old man twiddled with front right indicator and it has gone alright!!! Looks like the fault is either the front...

I am having the same problem too, any developments? I know its an oldish thread, my left indicator ok, right causes trailer warning light to come on dim as well as indicator light on dashboard. I initially lost indicators but this was due to whatever the fault is burning out hazard warning light...

Checked earth and all was fine there but some T**T had put the old scotchy connector on the wire in the rear tub to feed somethig else (not sure what yet) and the connection was as you may guess crap and intermitently failing. Removed it and all appears well, at the moment.........:)

couple of posts back mentions dash light. that is on so fuse defo ok. i'll check what you guys have suggested and relay back with results this weekend with any luck

Got a problem with my sidelights which i am a bit stuck with and desperately need some help with. the n/s front and rear sidelights are both out. I have checked the fuse which is fine. Is there a relay or something on each side which could fail and knock out both lights in one go or am i barking...

i'll check that, what did you do to rectify it?

dropped a 15amp fuse in tonight and it hasnt blown?? i know it is slightly larger than it should be, anyone think this is asking for it???? ie. still NEED to find fault

Never thought of that, it is a strange one cos i change the fuse and the light works for a random time and blows, ie a wire isnt earthing out permanently cos is doesnt blow straight away, so i guess doing that will at least rule out the sealed beam before going on a major strip down, top tip!

Thanks for the offer but looking for steelies as i cant seem to say for sure what will fit in terms of alloys (drums at rear and some people say fronts depend if i have the old 88 hubs??) would like alloys if i knew they would fit.

Not me personally but the n/s sealed beam keeps poppin the fuse. well stressed out!! Before i strip the whole darn thing down, can anyone suggest a place where the wiring commonly rubs or give me a clue where to look. thnx
