Buying first Range Rover, perhaps Evoque, thoughts?

0K ;) Don't your vets go in farms where the cattle is and up the hills to the sheep? Remember my Swiss friend Joaquim RIP he went anywhere in the Alps with his mobile clinic 130. Here vets usually drive a Toyota Taliban, some have Land Rovers, mostly battered Discos.

Buying first Range Rover, perhaps Evoque, thoughts?

Sorry my friend. No better not. Suspension is useless and there is too much electronic stuff lurking in places that are near on impossible to get at. And they have noprper 4wd and no low gears.. not a good idea to haul a cattle trailer

Fantastic. Thank you so much @mystery Very useful if one doesn't want to drag the computer or the printed version around

    Diagnostic Tool?

Get a second hand Gap. Or a second hand Nanocom, forget the rest. Yes I do have another one ( Hawkeye Pro and faultmate) but I haven't touched anything else since I have the iidtool. It comes a lot cheaper than throwing money at overpriced 'mechanics'

    Clutch push rod clip

Worn rods tend to drill holes in the fork. But my point is, it works without the clip if you don't want to drop the gearbox for that ;)

    discovery 2a elec fault

Really lovely. If you need anything just ask. This diagram is already in my favourites on my phone. Suppose RHD doesnt really matter Ok have to get on with the Freelander

New here! A little advice needed

:);):D:p;):) I have a Rangie ( being restored) a Disco 2 v8 which is extremely reliable @ 280, 000 miles (yes) and a Disco 300 TDI which comes out in an emergency. It has too many holes in the floor etc.. but clearly a last resort. I certainly wouldn't want another car. There is already another...

Check whether your tailgate light goes off. Often the contact fails.if it is not that, put your ammeter on the battery + and tell me what you get after X minutes. Then start pulling fuses. Suspects are interior lights, entertainment system especially if aftermarket, door switches etc I will...

    Gearbox problem

Welcome, nice to see somebody else from a small country. A Disco 200 TDI is an excellent choice, just protect it against rust. Don't buy a 2nd hand gearbox. All parts are ready available from shop4autoparts.net, who actually make many of the parts This box is easy to repair, if you get the...

New here! A little advice needed

Welcome and I feel for you. We had 2 with snapped Conrods here. There are some tiny little very annoying things they implemented in this engine: Much thinner wall to block Temperature gauge doesn't work, it is mapped to centre from 65 º to 110º which is a lie to the driver No dipstick hence you...

Buying first Range Rover, perhaps Evoque, thoughts?

Another thought.. a friend of mine in Malaysia bought an Evoque as her first land Rover, after having a River 75 and various Minis She is a diving instructor. The Evoque went at a heavy loss after 2 years. She now has a Puma 110 and is extremely happy.

Buying first Range Rover, perhaps Evoque, thoughts?

A Freelander or Evoque ( a luxury Freelander) do not have a proper 4WD , only a viscous coupler auxiliary rear wheel drive. They do not have a proper transfer box with reduction either. The independent suspension and poor ground clearance are definitely to be considered if driving through wheel...

    Clutch push rod clip

On just about any clutch that came out in the garage in the last 4 years the clip was missing. Most garages here aren't even aware the clip exists.if you have the thin original TDI fork, you might want to put a plastic cap on the rod to avoid fork problems

    Clutch push rod clip

you can push any little cap on the push rod if you like. other than that it isn't important

    P38 2.5D : Checking out

The faultmate not talking will be just a little wire off or the 5a fuse under the bonnet gone. Please check it out, you might find out what bothers you

    P38 2.5D : Checking out

Sounds a shame, we tend to save everything here. If one really had a bad desaster they become organ donors. How much for the faultmate... I have one and I can only recommend it for serious electronic work. A friend of mine might want to borrow the money to buy it.

    Straight piping 200tdi

My boss gave me a stern look and said.. you are not going to keep that tailpipe? So it received a silencer from some Toyota Diesel and 2x 2.5 " pipes. The diameter was defined by the 300tdi Terrafirma straight pipe
