The Allard unit was fitted centrally in front of the radiator and the pipes went below and into the engine. I guess with some bodging and bits of ally tube and decent hose you can do a similar setup. I reckon the long trouble-free life I had from my 19J was down to regular (4000 mile) oil...

Look on the engine block on the drivers side, below the cylinder head, and to the right of the fuel pump assembly. On the top of the casting is a number - if it starts with 11/L its a Defender engine. If its something else its a Disco. You might need to use some cleaner and a brush to get it...
