Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

It's a lot cleaner than it was before the garage cleaned it out. The valve wasn't moving any further so I've reassembled everything, small hose disconnected and plugged. Tried the car and same problem as yesterday, absolutely no power or pull. Wondering now whether it is the EGR but the...

Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

Thanks again. I've managed to order a bypass kit for delivery tomorrow morning so not such a pressing problem now. However I'd like to get out and about today so... I've found a screw which perfectly fits the end of the little braid pipe. Its just shutting the valve that I'm not quite sure...

Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

Hi Singvogel, Many thanks! I'm assuming it's a sticky EGR, exactly the same symptoms as a while back. I've actually just come in from the cold after attempting successfully to take the EGR valve off, overkill by the sounds of it but proves I can least do the job. Does the solution you've...

Quick EGR fix or quickly source a bypass mod?

Had a problem with a sticking/stuck EGR on my 2003 TD4 a little while back. A local garage de-gunked it and has been fine until yesterday. Fortunately it started playing up with only 15 miles left of a 300 mile trip to the north of Scotland. Exact same symptoms as before, no power until I hit 3k...

    Stereo Head Unit Upgrades?

Thanks I'll have a look at the Connects2 kit, sounds like the ideal solution I'm looking for.

    Stereo Head Unit Upgrades?

I'm interested to hear what upgrades people have gone for? I've got the standard radio/cassette with CD changer, unfortunately I don't have a CD cassette. In the New Year I have 6 to 7 hour drive to the north of Scotland and I think I'd take a sharp left in the middle of the Forth Road bridge...

    The Spacer Debate

Found the issue, it is the rears, when the wheel is on they have no clearance from the drums so are pressed flush against it. I don't have any washers to hand but by my estimation I don't need any more than a 7mm spacer, actually if they made 5mm spacers that would probably do. The hubcentric...

Help - TD4 Loss of Power

Thanks for the advice ;) I'm actually pretty happy with the mpg and performance as it stands, the TD4 pulls a lot better than I ever expected. I'll certainly do a bit more research before any new toys.

Help - TD4 Loss of Power

Didn't do it myself although I intend to be a bit more hands on in future. I was struggling for time and the guys at the local garage sorted it quickly and cheaply. I've been reading up on the EGR by-pass, in hindsight would have had a go or asked the guys to sort that. Slowly learning about...

    The Spacer Debate

Thanks Singvogel. I've just gone by what I was told by the guy who had the wheels. He had a 2004 facelift and thought the rear hubs had changed hence why he needed spacers. He thought they might just go straight on an earlier model, like mine for example. I guess the only thing I can do is try...

    The Spacer Debate

I've picked up some Freelander alloys with some off-road/winter Kumho tyres on. The only problem is that I'm told they'll need 10mm spacers to clear the brake drums. I'm guessing from previous posts that these are older wheels, my car is an 03 model. I see there is some debate about the effect...

Help - TD4 Loss of Power

The garage picked up an air flow meter error. Given that the problem has come and gone a few times led them to a likely cause as being a sticking EGR. Now all cleaned up, 125 mile run from Sheffield to Durham and not a glitch so looks like the EGR clean up has done the job.

Help - TD4 Loss of Power

Called the RAC out as I have cover, every little helps ;-) Their diags didn't work but then I'm getting no warning lights anyway. A call later and the diagnosis was a sticking EGR valve. Just been shown the valve and it's caked. Checked and diaphragm is ok, just cleaning out and then checking...

Help - TD4 Loss of Power

I was making steady progress dow the M1 when there was a slight judder which I can only compare to running out of fuel. The car recovered very quickly, no warnings, etc. Then a few miles later, on a hill, the car simply stopped pulling, very little power. On the hill the best I could get in 5th...

    Good Source for Spares?

Hi, I recently joined the forum to get some buying advice, all of which was really helpful. I picked up a 2004 TD4 Kalahari Station Wagon last Thursday and enjoying driving a Freelander again. One of the things I forgot to check was the CD changer and lo and behold no cartridge. I'd also quite...

    Temporary Insurance?

Well I hunted around and it was cheapest to go for the TAV on my existing Adrian Flux policy. I was getting quotes on other sites for £25 until I realised that was for just one day, the best I could get elsewhere for 28 days was around £240  Adrian Flux bettered that by some margin but when...
