    New Discovery earning its keep.

I was worried about the VOSA thread too, looked into it with VOSA, and yes, if you are using your vehicle for domestic, pleasure, or business, if the laden weight combined is 3.5t then a tacho must be used without fail.

Discovery 2 Noises - Not Serious, But Would Like To Identify? Help Please!

no 3 is like this on all Td5's. it wont go into final drive till you hit 53mph or above. indeed this is where she is economical but designed that way as bhp/touque aint needed there. its something we cant change but wouldnt reccommend blasting from cold to 53mph.

    oh my god thats petrol

should be lucky, that ratio is within the TD5 boundries, as they have NO fuel pump. Petrol cleans the system out, and this is what causes diesel problems. But you should be ok, try not to do too often

what to look for in early TD5

might be prudent to think about capping the EGR, they get problematic in latter years, causing nowt more than performance loss and system gunking up

    Selling an Auto TD5?

sensible mileage with 5 to 8k.!!!!!! The best ones start at 10k, or you're looking at galactic mileage motors, or TD5's with little or no service history. I paid 10k for my 2001 TD5 auto, with the dvd system thrown in, only had 29,000 on the clock with 1 owner with a service record of a major...

slight vibration/rumbling on td5 auto at 2000 revs ish /auto gear changing

I wouldnt worry bout thinking you're revving the hell out of the TD5, its the engine note/sound, meant to be like this. i tried 1,2,3,d and drive only, cant stop the engine going into final drive at 53mph. the EGR is a simple job if the bolts free easy, unlike mine. Apparenty increases MPG...

slight vibration/rumbling on td5 auto at 2000 revs ish /auto gear changing

i have the same issues with driving in third, mine wont go into 4th till 53mph and that is normal i am afraid. try capping the EGR, i am going to but the bottom hex bolt wont budge

    dealer honesty

if you went to a dealer, the cam belt wold have been changed, its too much a risk if it was to fail to them, am sure they would. if youre a member of the rac, or aa, they will check this for £25

    EGR - the dreaded subject

:D Hi peeps, now mine is no problem. I ant sure if i am down on power. I purchased my TD5, with only 49000, its a auto. I aint smoking, or slacking. So is it wise to go EGR removal, do I benefit, do i stop inherant sludging probs, or do i just not bother at mo.

    Radio/ cassette

i changed my head unit for a pop out dvd/tv into my 2001 TD5, sorry to say the steering controls are Head unit specific. Will only work with wotever control box is fitted to the bulkhead behind the unit. Mine was a alpine, and WILL NOT work with pioneer. Shame, but you'll get used too it.
