    Clunk on starting

Yea I thought about jamming something in there, I will have a better look when its dry. It may even bend up slightly, it may have just come down over time, just slightly enough to bang.

    Clunk on starting

The exhaust comes from the turbo, then goes over the crossmember. Its hitting the crossmember. There is a gap of about 5mm between crossmember and the exhaust above it! Dont think its the engine mounts, but its too wet for to get under and have a proper look.

    Rubbing strips & door finishers

Some tall ugly thick freak (will remain namless) has run his key from the rear quarter, through both doors and finally on to the front wing of my lovely Rangie! lol Anyway, I am in talks with my very good local paint sprayer with regards to the most cost efficient way to deal with it. And it's...

New oil in diffs and transfer box....

According to Rave there is a need for sealant, on the transfer box anyway. There are no washers on these type of drain plugs. I believe they are tapered.

New oil in diffs and transfer box....

Yes, there are grease nipples, 2 per shaft I believe. One on the slider and one on the unviersal joint. Just fill until it comes out.

New oil in diffs and transfer box....

I changed the oils in these during the summer. Whilst greasing the prop shafts recently I noticed leaks on one diff and the transfer box!!! I was really suprised and dissapointed. I now realise the transfer box should have some hylomar sealant on the drain plug before refitting. Do...

    Clunk on starting

I have noticed my 2001 P38 diesel makes a clunk upon starting. There is never any noise any other time. I'm fairly sure it's the exhaust hitting something when engine starts and moves the most. I've had a brief look under when I greased the prop shafts and there is a point near the front...

    Passenger Heated Seat

A revised and much more modern foam pad about 1/2" thick can be bought with the heater element inside. If you add a good length of wire (3-4") that goes down into the seat pad, rather than just across the gap in the foam, it should last OK.

Refill and bleed procedure for p38 coolant system

If you have Rave, its all in there. For my P38 BMW diesel, I removed drain plug at the bottom of the radiator AND there is a drain screw on the cylider head (tricky to find, its located underneath). Once drained, put screw and drain plug back in, fill up at header tank until you can get no...

    p38 Roof cross bars - rails STC50252

I know the rails that run from front to back are far superior, but its about the cost and how much they will be used. I need something that will be used very infrequently, so wanted folks opinions on those two options.

    Passenger Heated Seat

Yes, there is a very long wire inside the seat and over time it breaks in two places. You need to remove the seat from the car, then remove the cover from the seat. Do an easy re-join and the all back together. The repair is easy, its getting to it. There is a link that shows this job...

Anyone have a roof rack I can use for a day?

Hi, I need to transport something this Friday and it will be rather tight in the car. Dont suppose anyone near me, Pickering, has a roof rack to fit that I could use for a day? My 2001 Range Rover has no bars on at all currently. Thanks in advance.

P38 Back from the dead...... But................!!!!

Depends how much you rate your car I guess as to how much you want to spend. My gearbox was a little difficult to get in to gears when cold, so I used this Difflock Evo 1 and now its very smooth indeed hot or cold. 4x4 Store

Surley a jack can be used to lower and then raise the gearbox back into position. Its all possible, you just have to use your brain.
