Update..... we have had it plugged into the diagnostic computer again, and the replacement ECU unit is OK. The ABS light went out for about 3 miles, but then returned. The final fault that is now showing is front left wheel sensor wiring - so we are gonna make another trip to the LR breakers...

Hi, does any one know if an early discovery bumper will fit a range rover classic (91)?:rolleyes:

We are hoping to look into it a bit further this pm, so will let you know if we manage to get anywhere with it!

Is it right that problems with the alarm module will stop the central locking working correctly?

Are the sensors easy enough to get out with damaging them?, Would dodgy sensors be enough to cause the intermitant brake failure?

The wheel bearings all seem OK. The ABS light is on at ALL times, it never goes out at all. Do you know if we can completly disconnect/remove the ABS and revert to normal brakes - would this then pass an MOT??

Thanks, off to the garage again then!! Am I right in thinking that it will fail an MOT if the ABS light is on all the time? - Also is it failure if no ABS light is on at all (ie as the previous owner did - take the bulb out!!??)

We are having major problems with our ABS brakes on our 95 300TDI ES. The ABS light is on all the time and the brakes intermittantly fail (usually at low speeds). We have had it hooked up to the diagnostic computer at the friendly local garage, who advised it showed up as needing a replacement...

Quick update for you................. we have fitted replacement ABS ECU (£20 from local LR breakers), and the blooming ABS light still won't go out. Brakes haven't failed though (yet) with the replacement ECU, but I still don't trust it, as it often behaves for a day or so, and then fails...

We have a 95 300 TDi ES - Auto. We are having problems with our cental locking & alarm - neither work! :confused:The keyfobs won't operate the central locking at all (although a red light comes on on the keyfob and we have changed the batteries just in case). If you put the key in the drivers...

Hi again, :) Thanks for your comments, we are hoping to get hold of and try the replacement ABS ECU next week, so we will let you know how we get on. (fingers crossed it does the trick - don't fancy having to get an ABS pump)

Hi thebiglad The brake failure is an intermitant fault. The problem always happens at low speed braking (often under 15mph) the brake pedal has the usual resistance and you get a horrible juddering and noise on the pedal, you can continue to push the pedal as usual, but...
