    discovery 300tdi rear wheel bearing

Hi all, Sorry to revive such an old thread. I'm suspecting my rear offside wheel bearing is on it's way out, as it's making a few noises. Enquired on an eBay site that had Bearmach bearings for £15... and I was advised the bearings are the same front and rear for my N reg (1995) Disco. Is...

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

Excellent, I'll take a look at that tonight - thanks. I had a little look through a manual I found online, and they're showing a way to bleed it via the fluid reservoir? I'll post back when I've had a look/decided what to try. Thanks

    LR Discovery 300TDI Snorkel Box

Hi all - me again, When I purchased my Landy, the previous owner had been running it with a Snorkel that was fitted directly to the inlet - with no filter whatsoever. Worrying, but maybe foolishly this didn't stop me from purchasing her. As a temporary fix I immediately made a bit of sponge...

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

I did read that, and check and the pulley sizes were the same with the same number of grooves. I can't hear it slipping at all, so I'm guessing it's all okay. It appears that my PS only sometimes doesn't work, and is only at slow speeds. I checked my PS fluid yesterday and if anything it...

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

I've got a 450mm breaker bar so I'll give it a go with that tonight (didn't get a chance yesterday). On my way to work the power steering seemed to be playing up... if had this for seconds at a time before, but only when I've gone through a big puddle or a ford. It was totally dry today so I...

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

Sorry I think I misunderstood, I couldn't get it to pivot like in the video (to be fair I didn't try a breaker bar) so I just undid the whole tensioner and put it back on. It seems to be exactly where it was before, but I'll get a breaker bar on the nut like in the video tonight, and see if it...

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

Neilly that's ace, thank you. The part number search will be very handy going forward! I did indeed get the old one to move around the pivot. I couldn't understand (or see) the mechanism of it, so when I reattached the tensioner I had a mate to hold tension on it as I did it up. The belt seems...

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

I couldn't work out the mechanism inside the tensioner, but I'll have a look online for a new tensioner and change it anyway! Does anyone have a link they could send me by any chance? Tell me to stop being lazy if you want.... ;-) The rev counter is indeed back Disco1BFG!

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

Kwakerman, I did try that but the pulley didn't move at all. So I therefore removed the tensioner altogether and replaced it. It seems as tight as it was before... hopefully I've not caused any issues

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

Good morning all. Your help has solved my issue, so thank you very much. I checked all wiring, cleaned all connections and still had no luck. I didn't have the battery light come up, and located where it should be above the fuel gauge. 31% off on a Lucas Alternator, so for £80 I thought I'd...

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

Hi chaps, Thank you for all of the responses, much appreciated. Brian47, I will have a look for the three wires (from the top of my head I can only remember seeing two?). Disco1BFG - I forgot to mention that the rev counter initially flickered a bit, but has now completely stopped working...

Alternator issue? Or something else to check first...?

Hi all, I've had my N Reg 300tdi Disco for just over a month now and I love it! I've had a few little niggles that I've sorted out, but had been mythed by flickering/dimming lights. I've found another useful thread about this that helped somewhat, but my problem is slightly different. I'm a...

Probably a very silly and easy question...

Hi all, Just tidying up a few bits and bobs on my new 300tdi. Whilst cleaning up and Hammerite-ing my bootfloor last night I noticed the lack of light in the rear interior of my truck due to a blown bulb I'm hoping. Does anyone know what size bulbs are in the interior lights? The fronts fine...

    Help needed, please?

Hi Jordan, thanks for the quick reply. Are you anything to do with Fluxdirect? I had spoken with a representative yesterday and they advised they couldn't quote as they were so uncompetitive apparently. If you think you could get a quote, I'll send you a PM now. Many thanks, Jack.

    Help needed, please?

Morning all, On Wednesday I picked up my first Disco 300tdi, love it! I know the question has probably been asked thousands of times, but my question is a bit more specific than most common threads. I've currently got a 1998 Mazda MX5 (insert hairdresser related banted below) and will be...
