the thing thats starting to get me is, its starting to become clear that this worng parts thingy in the rebuild kit is quite common, so when I came on here and asked for advice on rebuilding my carb and was told paddocs was the place to order one from, no one said a word about it...

whats that? customers who live in the real world and understand that the people at padocs have bigger fish to fry than takeing the time to find me a poxy mixture screw, so just quitely go away....

I rang up paddocs and they said they had never herd of this problem before, and were full of promises that they were going to contact land rover and get me the propper mixture screw, but they never called me back, and I chased em up a couple of times, still more promises of calling me back but...

sorry mate but im a total novice, any chance you could explain that a bit more, surely the glow plugs, fuel stop, alternator, and starter are all 12 volt, so A) if I stick 24 through em it wont do them any harm? and B) how do I reduce the voltage? sorry to be a pain but I need a dummies guide to...

well chaps, me thinking my series was an early one was way off the mark, got an email back today and its a 1979 so thats ****ed all over the matches, nevermind I can put that to bed now....:violin:

just the massive IF it's a 1972 tho, Ive herd genuine pre 73 series are pretty rare, and mines as straight as an arrow, so im not gonna get too excited, must admit I'll be going through the roof if it is!!! :)

well the plate and first registration are much later than the landy is, because it's ex army and it just has when it was released from service, but just went to your link and filled in the details and it say's its a 1972!! so now where do I go from here, to prove its a 1972, and get the v5...

im pretty sure my series 3 is a really early one, its ex army, how can I find out the year it was made, and if it is pre 73 how do I prove it....:confused:

im about to attempt to fit a 2.5 n/a 110 engine in my series 3, and try and keep it 24volt, must admit im only slightly nervious about the massive can of worms im about to open up and spill all over my garage, considering Ive never attempted anything like this before and am a novice macanic at...

I would guess its because swb models are better off road (less lightly to ground out) and thats prob why they are slightly more sort after, hence the higher price....
