    what LR is it Gman where did you get it from? If it was a TD4 freelander did it come with the two vent filters you have to change as well? If it did ill have some of that action!

    We did a 48K service one the other day and it took about that, maybe 6.5. if you don't undo the oil filter housing cap first it will keep oil in there, that's the only reason i can think of why people can't get the specified amount back in

    i suspect there will be a fault code relating to lack of fuel etc would have thought it just needs the fault code deleting the same thing happens when it over fuels the system sounds like it's self bleeding otherwise it wouldn't have started and if it's running as it did before then i'd wait...

    if its a R380 1998 onwards which yours obviously is, being a td5 then MTF94 type oil only in your gearbox you can use a few different types of oil in your diff and transfer box ranging from fully synthetic 75W-90 to mineral 80w-90
