I think you're at the point where the jack has to come out. Once it's in the air you'll probably be able to put your finger on it. :)

You seem to be in a similar spot to me, I started poking around mine when I got it. The pic' below is the rear crossmember. I've decided to go for a new crossmember with extensions and rear spring hangers.... this is where I'm at today.

On my Series 3 when i got it, the entire roof on the inside was covered in those 'orrible 70's polystyrene ceiling tiles. Dunno if they worked, they just had to go.

Wheel nuts do look a bit iffy as they're not in 'Safety'' ie there are'nt at least two threads protruding from the nut.
