Looking for advice on Wobble over 50MPH Freelander 2

Hi, i did have a problem with the first drive shaft. when changing the bearing i didnt notice that it fell out. I had to remove the boot and reinsert the triple bearing back into the housing. I have though checked this and there is no excess movement or anything.

Looking for advice on Wobble over 50MPH Freelander 2

As it only really happened after the second one, and i think the poblem and wobble lies with that side. it may be worth a try.

Looking for advice on Wobble over 50MPH Freelander 2

Hi, I did all of them, only thing i've not managed yet is changing the brake disks and pads. Not had time. but what i did notice this weekend. I took the wheels off and one of the disks for a quick check. Now when driving the wobble is at a different speed. so i'm beginning to think since i...

Looking for advice on Wobble over 50MPH Freelander 2

Hi, Will start with a breif history. Initially had to change both front wheel bearings, left one failed. Then a month after right hand side did the same. This fixed the noise problem i had from bearings, but then about a month after the last bearing change and driving on the motorway the whole...

Low hum at high speed Freelander 2

Cheers, had a look at it over the weekend and already decided it was worth getting someone to do it. But also for some reason decided to check the bearings again on the front. Spinning slowly by hand there is no noise at all, but when I managed to get the speed up a bit the bearing is rough...

Low hum at high speed Freelander 2

Low hum at high speed Freelander 2

Actually think I may be better to change the other front bearing as the more i listen to it the more i think it's that. Did inspect both Bearings one had movement other seemed fine that's why initially only changed one. And would maybe explain why pitch changes when driving over slight bumps on...

Low hum at high speed Freelander 2

The front wheel bearing was the first thing i checked, and the left hand side bearing was faulty. That has since been changed and noise is still there.

Low hum at high speed Freelander 2

Cheers for the replies, will check the filter and see if that makes a difference. Tyre's I'm sure are OK as they are a good set of Michelin and lots of life left in them. Been trying to pay attention to where sound is actually coming from and it seems to be front and center. not sure if that...

Low hum at high speed Freelander 2

2007 Freelander TD4. Have a low humming sound and i'm sure i can feel a slight vibration constantly when reaching 50mph and above. Thought it was front bearing initially as this was faulty. But noise still there. when going straight and turning left noise is there. but when turning right noise...

    Black Smoke

I thought I should update this just to give people some info. All the usual things have been tried. Hoses, intercooler, turbo, egr, maf, pressure tested. Even did a Terraclean. Eventually it was discovered that someone had done the timing belt and not put the timing back to exact position. So at...

Tried it on sand mode. Smoke still there. Does that mean anything?

    Black Smoke

Never tried it in any other mode other than standard so far, but will give it a try. Couldn't say if its ever been remapped or not. All the pipes I removed, even when I checked the egr were covered in oil. I have cleaned the egr. I can still hear the whooshing sound as I said when I hit the...

Fitted new silicone set of hoses the other day. Old ones actually looked ok when I got them off. Black smoke still pouring out the back when I accelerate hard. Any other ideas guys.

    Black Smoke

Thanks for all the info. i think my best bet would be to replace the hoses just to be on the safe side and see where i go from here. Will order a set asap and update here accordingly. But so i know I'm getting the right things. are we talking about the two hoses going to the intercooler that...

    Black Smoke

Managed to get it out on the motorway last night. I can get it up to speed, with black smoke only really appearing when i ask for a bit more power or gear changes if i put the foot down. I have a couple of questions though regarding the engine as this is my first Freelander. 1. When driving the...

    Black Smoke

I can control the smoke to a degree of I keep the rpm about 1500 - 2000. If I try to go above that or push it hard. That's when smoke appears. I'm trying a fuel cleaner just now too see if that helps. This should help if injectors need a clean hopefully. Also there is slight smoke when ticking over.

    Black Smoke

Not had the turbo pipes off yet, that's my next job. But they all feel OK so far. But will definitely check them all out. Does the intercooler need to be removed to be cleaned out. As I said, just trying to eliminate certain things before I get to turbo, that way I can take it back within...
