I know people slate the blue box parts, but i haven't had a problem with them in the past. Saying that, for a critical part like a timing belt, I'd buy quality and spend a little more on it. If it were to fail, you'd regret saving that little extra!

It was a recon unit that'd sat on this guys shelf for years. clean as new and clearly never been used. Are you saying that the pump itself is tuned wrongly, or is it just me not setting it up right?! Cheers for the quick reply btw:)

Evening all! I killed the injector pump on my 2.5NA - I think some crap got into it and it wouldn't put any fuel out at all, fuel in was fine, but nothing to the injectors. Thing is, I really want to change the engine for a 200tdi when I've got the cash, so the replacement was a cheap ebay recon...

Found it in the end! I'd changed out loads of little bits before I finally came across the non return valve on the return pipe from the injector pump had seized closed. I'd pulled the pipe of but left the valve attached to the filter housing so never clocked onto it. Running it for 30 miles like...

Not burning any oil, valve stem seals are all new, piston rings are good. Engine is running fine otherwise. Everything was fine until I did the chassis swap. Could be a worn injector pump, I'm going to look into how much it'd be to replace...

Update - bled the system again and it's still doing it... There was a little air there, but I wonder if a bit of the thread from the casing might be stuck in there. Sucks to be so near to finishing and then to have a set back like this!

Yes, you were right! :o Had it fixed in my head that it was timed from TDC and didn't even check for the mark on the sprocket! Keyway sits at 8/9 o'clock. Winner :) I knew it'd be a simple schoolboy error!

The crank pulley does have a TDC mark at around 10 o'clock, I just guessed that was measured off a different point on the belt cover.
