TD5 Back Pressure Into the Air Box?????

That air filter pipe is only connected to the turbo & a breather from the rocker cover, I would try running the engine & pull the dipstick out or remove the oil filler cap & see if you have any pressure at either of these points. Is there a lot of oil in the air filter pipe ?

    Becm

You can buy a modified rf unit which is far less prone to other signals, I would also guess your key won't sync due to the aerial being disconnected, scimjim I can fix your range rover if it hasn't been done already, I am near dorchester !

What is high mileage for a TD4?

I have a customer with 3 all above 150000 miles, 1 made it to 198000 then the timing chain snapped, the vehicles are hardly ever serviced & I only see them when they have driven them until they stop & have to have something done to make them go again !!

    Td5 ecu

I would think it is still a good idea, dont forget there is also another fuse box & some relays under the seat with the ecu. In my 300 tdi 90 I had water half way up the windscreen inside & it was still running, I would hope my TD5 90 would do the same if the ecu was inside the roof lining, I...

    Leaking engine oil........

The 300 tdi oil filter sits directly above the diff, a careless mechanic would have just spun the filter off & fitted a new one, all the oil from the old filter will be sitting in a recess on top of your diff & will continue to drip for a while unless washed off !!

    Engine Undertray

Instead of going through the trouble of removing parts to get it off, if you jack the vehicle at the point where the front arm bolts to the chassis, it will raise the engine away from the axle giving you more clearance to pull the undertray out, you may have to give it a few yanks but its bound...

    humming/rummble

Just because there is no play in the bearing doesn't mean it's not knackered, can you jack up the front & back right hand wheels & spin them by hand to check for noise ? I would guess it was one of them due to the fact you say it goes quiet when cornering left !

    a quicky- please !!

First thing to do is check it has been bled properly, when cold remove the bleed screw from the top radiator hose & make sure you have coolant there !!

LandRover Freelander IRD job help needed

I would say you would be looking at about 3-4hrs work, I would guess about £50/hr is a fair independent price so: £150-£200 labour £850 IRD £350 VCU £90 for a couple of vcu support bearings if needed £25 consumables, oil etc Give or take a few quid !! What are the actual symptons on the...

LandRover Freelander IRD job help needed

There isn't really anything else that could be described as a damper ! It can also be tested very easily on or off the car whatever the state of the transmission !

LandRover Freelander IRD job help needed

I would say the damper he is talking about is probably the vcu & that IRD sounds a bit expensive, labour sounds expensive, from your estimates i would say labour was about £500 , even at £100/ hr this is not a 5 hour job !!

Take the little lift pump off ( the bit that the prime lever is attached to ) & make sure it is pumping, there is another lever inside that runs off the camshaft, operate it by hand & check the pipes to make sure 1 is sucking & 1 blowing !!!

Usually caused by a wiring fault between the ecu & throttle pedal - very common fault !!

Check that you have both seals fitted on the fuel filter, or sometimes you can leave the old centre seal on the housing & fit new one, ending up with too many & then drawing in air .

    Defender TD5 starting problem

Sounds like bull**** to me, the only wire around the back of the block is for the oil light, doesn,t matter if they cut the thing off, it won't affect the running/starting of the vehicle, could be damaged crank sensor / wiring as already said, or maybe something totally unrelated & just unlucky...
