Freelander 1 Alloy wheel compatibility...

They are 225 65 R16 - originally purchased for my Disco. I know they will be slightly bigger than the stock 215 65 R16 - would they be okay? I have secured some reasonable 16" 5-spoke alloys (set of 5) from ebay for £27.

Freelander 1 Alloy wheel compatibility...

Thanks for the reply. I was going to fit the BFG's as they're sat in my garage and are in "as new" condition. The car will mostly be used for moving stuff around my small holding, and going there and back so road manners aren't as big an issue as if it was my daily driver. If I was buying new...

Freelander 1 Alloy wheel compatibility...

Evening all... I'm back after a two year abstinence from Land Rover. Back with two of them actually, a 2004 Freelander Commercial TD4 and a 1997 Discovery 300Tdi. That's what happens if you ignore all the warnings and go drinking and bidding on e-bay..... Anyhow the Freelander TD4 is a...

freelander vcu help

Bell are West of Birmingham, depending on where you are in Norfolk it will be a 3 to 4 hour drive. The issue with the VCU is it doesn't tend to fail suddenly and render the car un-drivable, they tend to "tighten up" with age and mileage and this puts extra strain on the rear diff and transfer...

Winter tyres...which ones do you have?

Winter tyres...which ones do you have?

Think I would add that although I posted the videos of the winter tyre tests, they are comparing the two extremes (i.e. summer tyre with a high speed tread pattern to a full winter tyre). What is not clear is just how much of the advantage in the snow the winter tyres have comes from the...

Winter tyres...which ones do you have?

I'm not a tyre guru but I don't think there are too many Alpine marked All Terrain tyres about. I've just got some Cooper Discoverer M+S2 but I don't think the tread pattern is quite as "All Terrain" as a BFG AT etc. Anyone know of any?

Winter tyres...which ones do you have?

There is some confusion about Winter tyres and the legislation in some countries where they are mandatory at certain times of the year. Many of the countries that require them actually only specify a tyre which is M&S rated (Mud and Snow) - this only means that the tread pattern differs...

Crash for Cash

You probably wouldn't want them to discount your premium anyway because they would make it conditional that the camera was working at all times - a bit like claiming the discount on house insurance for an alarm system - they're not lowering your cost they are lowering the things they will pay...

Crash for Cash

On my e-bay cheapie it records in 3 minute clips - when the card is full is starts to overwrite the oldest ones. There is a button on the camera so if you have just had an incident and want to keep the records - you press it and it marks that 3 min clip as never to be deleted.

Crash for Cash

This is the point of it for me - even if the incident doesn't affect you directly you might just catch something which could make a huge difference to someone else and stop a criminal. Surely this incident is dangerous driving? Great pictures - what camera have you got?
15. T

Crash for Cash

I don't think it does - as the incident happened in a public place the people on the video could not have reasonably have expected privacy, no criminal offences have been committed in making the recording and uploading it to a public website. If it goes viral or you accuse them of criminal...

Testing 4WD systems

I've had a look on e-bay but can't find anyone selling them. Just had a look on the video and although substantial - they look a bit "home-made" to me. I don't think it would be too difficult or expensive to make some (but time consuming) from a quantity of angle iron and/or box. You would...

Testing 4WD systems

Just found this link on a Volvo XC forum. It doesn't have any Land Rovers in it but is an interesting watch and makes you think about how a 4WD system with electronic aids (traction control) works. Old cars are used which may have faults so it doesn't imply that any are better than others...

First offroad attempt

Skill is key also - a Disco 1 or Defender is very forgiving and will stand a lot of grounding out and doing silly things. As many have said off-road driving in a FL with traction control is a different book, you need a better understanding and better interaction with the vehicle (in my...
