Its true, as the diesel warms up in the tank during the day it (naturally) expands,at night when it cools and contracts it draws fresh air and any moisture that's in the air through the breather pipe,which will then condense on any exposed metal,liquid retains heat longer than air or metal...

Obviously they "spin" but they wont make boost (pressure) so you wont hear any noise. If they spun all the time there would be no such thing as turbo lag.

When you buy a spray gun they should tell you the compressor requirements,you dont need huge pressure for a spray gun,but you do need some and it's a pita waiting for the compressor to build up enough pressure,it's a case of, spray for a few minutes wait for the pressure to build up, spray...

Turbo's dont spin unless they are under load (in gear),so knocking it out of gear would stop the noise.

Gear lever gaiter split or not fastened properly or mebee turbo hose split, er, or not fastened properly??

Sacrificial anodes are used on boats,without them they would rot into the sea within a year or two.If I remember right it's the water acting as a conductor that makes it work so well. It's still a bit of a black art as different metals (anodes) are used depending on what kind of water the boat...

Wont be hard to find alloys for it, painting Defenders can get some fantastic results,but it really depends on how much of a "good" job YOU want doing.£700 should have it looking clean and tidy,£5000, will be 100% better than factory finish (which isn't hard),again this depends on how much work...
