    200 tdi injectors

A good Bosch agent can reset the springs which govern the opening pressure and change the tips if required. I can't help with a place in the UK though.

    Cruise control faulty on TD5????

It's a very common thing, normally caused by 'dry' connections on the ECU. You can resolder them yourself and that should fix it. It's basically the same problem that you get with the 'spider'.

Straight Through Front Silencer - more power??

We had a slow Disco I 300tdi in, and did the following: 1) remove EGR 2) remove Cat 3) remove front silencer (wrong small one had been fitted) The owner is now very happy and the car is not noisy.

    Disco TD5

There is a switch thingy on the side of the box close to the exhaust. Not cheap, about 100 quid over here in SA. But first check the colour of your ATF. If it is black the box has been overheated and will need to be reconned. Last week we changed a switch to fix the M + S lights, which it...

    Oils

Transfer box leaks are usually the intermediate shaft o-rings. These cost nothing but the box has to come out to change them. You will need a new collapsible spacer as well. There are two o-rings of different sizes, one fits around the shaft and the other is in the casing itself.

    TD5 ignition Barrel

Take off the lock by knocking round the special 'irremovable' bolts with a chisel. Then (or better, first) find a decent locksmith who can fix it, the problem is quite simple so I am told. Our guy fixes them for R150 which is ten squid.

    Bosch or Lucas?

And for a bit of really useless information, CAV stands for Charles A. Vandervell. His son raced the Vanwall F1 cars back in the late fifties. I had a dinky model of one.

    Defender clutch noise

I wouldn't worry too much about the screeching noise, it's when you get clonks and banging noises from down there that you have to worry. The TD5 clutch has no springs in the driven plate - they are in the built-up flywheel. The rivets sometimes break and the whole lot then falls to bits. Yet...

    Preping for long lay up

According to Turners the engine people a squirt of bike chain lube in each cylinder will help if the engine is not to be started for a while. The stuff sticks to the cylinder walls. And of course disconnect the battery and keep it charged or you'll have to buy a new one. If you have a fancy...

2 Man bench seats in a 110 CSW

I won't post photos of the two-person inward-facing seats because they are a standard LR part, but will send you photos and measurements of the modified rear bench seat. Oh, the other slightly different thing about mine is that it is a 100% full width seat, not the 60/40 standard seat.

2 Man bench seats in a 110 CSW

My 95 110 csw was assembled in South Africa with the seats you talk about. I took them out long ago, but I can't send them to you because the postage sucks. But the assembler did modify the rear seat to make it more useful and comfortable. To give you an idea, if you look in the rear side...

    Choices...

The thing to remember is that without the diff lock, your Landy is basically a 1wd vehicle. As said above, if one wheel is off the ground or spinning in mud, you stop. With the CDL locked, you are in 2wd and will stop if you spin one front and one rear wheel. I have a Detroit locker at the...

    Gear/Transfer box help please

Driving in difflock will not harm as the vehicle is in 2wd anyway and needs the CDL to be locked in order to go at all. The question is "which two wheels are not driving?" And then "Why not?" The answer could be cheap like a broken half shaft or stripped drive member or a broken CV joint in...

    Still struggling with my TD5!

If you have a pooter you don't need a boost gauge, cos it shows ambient and manifold pressure. You should get your engine on a pooter cos it is possible that your ambient pressure switch has failed. Come to think of it that won't make much difference to you in the UK for the ECU then defaults...

    200tdi/300tdi,whats the difference?

Yes, if you are buying a 'package', the 300tdi/R380 is much better than the 200tdi/LT77, the LT230 being the same. Changing gear with a LT77 is like pot luck, you never know which gear you will get next.
