    2 questions in one!

That's a big difference in price, are they really that much better? and yes I did fit the cheap ones, about £15 for a set as opposed to £26 each for the genuine ones. If they are really that good, I'll buy a set but don't want to spend over a £100 if they don't make that much difference.

    Parking light problem

Could also be a poor earth, if you unscrew the light fitting from the body and see if the screw is corroded, fitting a new screw might do the trick

    steering box shaft bent?

I agree, a track rod is the most likely, I would go and have a full wheel alignment check just to make sure everything is pointing in the right direction. You don't want to run for too long if something is out as it'll wear your tyres.

    2 questions in one!

I have the same problem as the first one with my 200tdi 90. I have fitted new glow plugs as all the old ones were duff and mine sounds like it has dropped a cylinder, with a fair bit of smoke, until it has been running for about 20 seconds but this doesn't happen if I give it about three goes on...

    Defender battery

Mk iv Zodiac, fuel filler behind the rear numberplate! Audi A8 battery under the floor of the boot next to the spare wheel! Audi A2 dipstick behind flip down front grill!

    wheels

Even if the stud pitch were the same, Landrover have used various different spigot diameters (the hole in the middle of the wheel) that centres the wheel on the hub. As has been said already, you would probably need a fitting kit or a set of spigot rings.

    Sick Range Rover

a cracked block will normally mean a loss of compression on one cylinder or gas pressure in the water (a sniffer test will tell you that) or mayo in the water or in the oil filler all depending on where the crack is.

    Sick Range Rover

I would change the water pump and thermostat before anything else! IMHO

Changing my disco to dse rangie ???

Paul, If you are going to do it now is a great time as prices have taken a big hit, even on the well sorted low mileage ones but I'm sure that when people start to realise just how far reaching the hike in the cost of your tax disc is then it will bring down the cost of newer cars and help some...

advice on new wheels i just bought

Mine are from the Sport HSE 2008. I haven't got a picture of the wheels on the car but they are roughly the same size as yours, 19" with 255/50/19 pirrelli tyres. I had the same wheels as your old ones to start with too.

advice on new wheels i just bought

nice one, it looks so much better now  I found mine tends to follow ridges in the road slightly more but that's not enough to be a problem and they update the look of the car nicely!

Anybody Know any solutions to help prevent over heating on P38 2.5?

quite the opposite mate... yours is now working properly! If the temperature is only just above the blue the motor will not be fully hot and the car will use more fuel. Just below midpoint i.e. 12 o clock is spot on. It sounds like a sticky thermostat and worth keeping an eye on it. After...

Changing my disco to dse rangie ???

If you buy a high mileage older car then you are taking more of a chance than a late model low mileage one or two owner one, kinda obvious really, I would go for the best you can afford as it will probably be cheaper in the long run. If you only have 2 or 3 grand to spend then I would buy...

advice on new wheels i just bought

The bolts are the same thread but it's the size of the outside shank and the shoulders that vary on the different wheels. The nuts will need to be the right ones for your wheels.

    Wobble at 50mph

are your wheels intended for the P38 or for a later Rangey, if they were designed for a later model then you will need sigot rings to corectly centre the wheel, this could be the cause of your wobble.

    Air in fuel pipe

I agree, don't waste time with anything else until you've changed them all, it'll cost you less than a fiver for enough pipe to do it. Don't rely on them looking OK, mine did but they disintigrated when trying to remove them so were the source of air getting in. It'll transform the way the car...

why is the dhse slower than the dse?

There will be no difference in 0-60 to speak of for different spec apart from manual verses auto. If you want to take about half an hour off your 0-60 then fit a spider box, it gives it about 170bhp and better mpg too. Anyway, what overheating problem? Aprt from thermostats and waterpump failure...

Anybody Know any solutions to help prevent over heating on P38 2.5?

No problems with mine in fact I'm not sure where the talk of a problem comes from as I've not heard of anyone who has had anything worse than a thermostat or water pump! Mine stayed in the blue on the gauge for a while and a new stat fixed that.

heater plug relay,I know not where to look!

Not sure which model you have, if it's a P38 2.5 diesel then you will find it next to the ECU immediately behind the battery. Take the battery cover off and you will see a long black letter box shaped plastic box behind the battery with a screw at either end. undo the screws and you will see the...
