    Front fogs

You don't need them!!!! (ok maybe one or two days a year) they are nothing but a pain to other drivers!:violent:

New discovery driver - can someone talk me through the basics please?

Very basically, you have 3 differentials, one on each axle, and one on the output from the gearbox, in normal *open* drive the vehicle will stop if you loose traction on 1 wheel although they are very capable. You have high range and low range, you normally travel on roads in high range (small...

    Could be a non starter!

Definitely sounds like the glow plugs, try giving them 2 goes on the timer, but i'll bet that at least a couple of plugs are U/S You can roughly test them. Once out, hold the screw bit in pliers with the neg -'ive wire from a battery coupled to the pliers, then touch the contact on the plug...

disco 300 tdi heater fan problem

No, I've not tackled the slider switch, mind you, I thought that was the problem with mine but it turned out to be lumps of foam jamming the heater motor.

    Battery Advice Needed

Higher spec batteries will not damage anything on the vehicle. A battery is only a *storeroom* for the electricity (for want of a better way to put it) Fords used to put the smallest battery they could on their cars (might still do!) and if the car didn't start within the first couple of...

    Battery Advice Needed

My son eventually came back with the 90 last night, on looking at it, you're correct, the light does have a "choke" symbol on it which is incorrect as it's a diesel, that proves that Landrover were too lazy to have 2 different sets of dash lights, and used the old V8 petrol dash in the diesel...

disco 300 tdi heater fan problem

Check the fuse first, then if that's ok, remove the heater blower and check that. to get to it, lower the cardboard "kick panel" that's under the glove-box on the passenger side, then by looking upwards towards the centre of the of the windscreen, you'll see the heater there, more importantly...

    Battery Advice Needed

Cypermethrin, what do you think diesel engined cars have this "preheat" for then if it doesn't need to be used? Why bother fitting glowplugs etc? In warm weather you may well not need to use the glowplugs, I don't need to in all my diesel vehicles, but in this cold weather you should use them...

    Battery Advice Needed

There is no choke on a diesel engine! that light is for the glowplug cycle. A choke is used on a petrol engine, and does exactly as it says, it "chokes" the air intake giving more petrol to the cylinders when cold.

    Battery Advice Needed

It it's a diesel, then it does have this light, it's not a choke light, chokes are for petrol engines. The light looks like 1 or 2 coils of a stretched spring and should go off after about 5 seconds, that's when you start the engine when it's cold. You don't need to use it once the engine has...

    Battery Advice Needed

You turn your ignition on and wait until the "wire light" ( glowplug preheater light) goes out, then immediately start the engine, if it doesn't start straight away, either some/all of your glowplugs are knackered, or / and even your injectors need looking at. You should only need to do a...

    clutch bleeding issue!!!

Get underneath and push the rod back into the clutch slave cylinder, any wayward air will then go back to the master cylinder reservoir and away. Then get someone to very slowly press the clutch pedal as you guide the rod so it doesn't go where it shouldn't

Destroying bushes, time to upgrade the arms i think.

Just had a look in the garage, and I only have a couple of them left that I didn't fit (ie shockers etc) and the original packing has long since gone. I think that I got them from Craddocks............ I specifically said that I wanted the Medium ones, and NOT Britpart. They're orange in colour...

Destroying bushes, time to upgrade the arms i think.

One of the problems with fitting new "rubber" (I use that term loosly!) is that unless you specifically ask and chase up OE bushes, you'll get Chinese copies, and you might as well fit pieces of butter! I have the same set-up as yourself, and was stuck for bushes for the panhard rod one day...

    Recovery Options

I have my Landy insured with Premium Choice (roadsure) on *classic* type insurance, even though I can get the insurance a bit cheaper elsewhere, through them I have full personal breakdown cover for any vehicle that I'm driving (and the Landy is 1991) either in the UK, or in Europe for less than...

    Towing in an emergency situation

as said previously, this towing weight thing is a minefield, and although the local Bib won't know it chapter & verse, the VOSA guys certainly will. There are now VOSA guys out & about 24hrs a day, mainly on the motorway, and they'll pull anyone that they feel could be breaking one of a number...

    Kingpin All terrains?

I have them both on the 90, and on the Disco, no problems, wear rate is good, both vehicles have done a lot of green laning, and have been down to the south of France green laning as well. On the disco I have 265/70/16's with 2" lift, wheel spacers etc. they perform just great and aren't too...
