    04 TD4 Loss of Water.

Trouble with finding a leak in the main radiator is that you can hardly see it with so many fans and stuff bolted to it. And the car has only dome 48,000 miles. You would expect a radiator to last a lot longer than that. But hey, this is a Freelander, anything can go wrong at any time.

    04 TD4 Loss of Water.

Heater radiator seems to be OK, carpet is dry. I had a look at the expansion tank and it seems OK, again there doesnt appear to be any leaks and there is no squealing alternator and I cant see any leaks there either. I guess I will just have to live with it for the time being and just keep...

    04 TD4 Loss of Water.

Any ideas how to find a water leak in the cooling system. I noticed that the water level on the expansion tank is going down requiring quite a lot to top up (about half a litre in 2 months). At first I thought it was just normal loss because I have had the car for about 3 years and had not...

    Chipping my TD4

The EGR bypass is a good thing but not essential and nothing to do with the Synergy unit. You may not need a new MAF. Its all dependant on if your MAF is way out of spec. You could get away with cleaning the MAF with carb cleaner. I have not replaced the MAF on my car that has done 46000 miles...

    Chipping my TD4

The Synergy 2 module gives you the benefit of having the MAF compensation which is good because the Bosch MAF (which is in the TD4) has a life of only about 40,000 miles. The MAF compensation, as suggested adjusts to compensate for an out of spec MAF. It also allows the cheeper Pierburgh MAF...

    Chipping my TD4

It all depends on the state of your MAF Sensor. Indications as to the state of the MAF are on Rover Rons site I purchased the Synergy 2 with the dash mounted switch. I did not replace the MAF Sensor because I felt that it wasn't enough out of spec although for the small price of a Pierburgh...

    Headlamp adjustment

I have an 04 car and have not really noticed a problem. I suppose if I think about it, the main beam is possibly a little low but not that it causes me concern. You could buy some additional driving lights (I have the LR pods) and point them further into the distance. I got my set of ebay and...

    Keep blowing brake bulbs

Don't think its condensation, everything looks dry. How did you establish it was the brake pedal switch? The internmittent fault causing flicker seems a possible culprit. Will have to start looking at all the connections once the weather starts to warm up. Its just too cold at the moment...

    Keep blowing brake bulbs

Any ideas why I would keep having to replace the brake bulb on myo FL TD4 facelift but the near side only? No problem with the brake lights on the off side though. Andy

    Should I buy this Freelander?

Yes, do take it off road at least once. If you are going to buy an expensive to run car you may as well enjoy why the car was designed. I had one major session off road and the car kept up with all similar model cars. It was my lack of off road driving and using road tyres that let the car...

    Should I buy this Freelander?

05 Freelander you are speaking of has the 2 litre BMW TD4 engine which is very reliable. You will see though this forum lots of problems with Freelanders. What you never see is people saying how good Freelanders are because people tend not to bother talking about the +ve aspects of...

    Freelander HID Kits. Any feedback?

I seem to remember (from my night mountain biking sessions) that HIDS have a finite life based on the number of times they are turned on. A friend had a HID light and he was always saying that once he turned the light on, it was better to stay on thay turn the light off an on as required since...

    Freelander HID Kits. Any feedback?

Heck, I will give it a miss then. Ironically, as I m writing this there is a sponsored link to Xenon HID kits at the bottom of this page.

    Freelander HID Kits. Any feedback?

Its been a while since a couple of guys fitted HID Kits to their Freelanders. Any feedback? Problems, reliability etc. Also as I remember the HID kits replaced the normal dipped beam, what about the main beam, is that not overshadowed (pun intended) by the brighter dipped beam. Any info...

    freelander traction control?

As you said, the traction control ligt comes on when grip is lost. The system is kicking in and reducing power to the wheel that is slipping giving the wheel chance to grip again. TC and HD lights on are well documented here. Do a search. But there are a number of possibilities.

    Front Protection bar

Or you could just get a set of LR Spotlights. Bolts onto the bumper and the kit includes all the wiring, relays etc. Its quite a good kit but you do have to drill and cut your front bumper. Cant find any on ebay to show you at the moment but I'm sure a search will find the info
