Got a clean 96 3.9 es auto and get about 12 to 16 MPG towing large caravan. Auto is nice but only drops into top gear when over 52 MPH so MPG drops when towing below 52. fantastic for towing on motorways. Great for showing boy racers what power really is. have not got LPG yet but...

Split pins may be a pain but they are a "positive" locking device and will not work loose. Nylock nuts are easier to fit but in theory could come loose but usually don't. I would opt for the same nut as landrover fit, then you can'tm be wrong.

Thanks Landyman, The leakoff pipes are new so I will try removing the injector and hope it comes our ok. If it is tight I will make up a puller in my work without any problems. have another disco for spares to pinch an injectors from as I reckon it needs new ones by now.

My 300 tdi with 228k miles appears to be weeping diesel from around number 3 injector. It is difficult to see exactly where the actual leak is ,however it is very minimal and not from the pipe union. Is the injector body shot and leaking back up via the cylinder head? The fuel seems to...

Absolute rubbish, your V8 will tow your caravan up the side of a mountain. The only time it will overheat is if the radiator or cooling system is in poor order ie blocked rad etc. Never had any probs with my V8 towing big caravans.

yes you are probably right, will maybe give it a good flushing oil and see what happens but don't want to strip the engine at this stage as I only do about 1500 miles a year in it so can live with the oil consumption.

Definitely no leaks at crankshaft seals, coolant clean oil clean but I do only use the V8 occasionally and mainly for towing the caravan on motorway at around 60ish. Don't really drive it hard just the odd time to smoke a boy racer if he ****es me off. Front of caravan never has any black...

Coolant is fine and never drops, temp gauge does not move even when towing large caravan. Engine quiet even on start up.

Try glow plugging the engine 2 or 3 times before turning it over as that is what I do and it always starts no probs.

could be they damaged the fuel line where it enters the tank. The fittings can become fragile and the metal bends going into the tank rust a lot over the years and you may be drawing air into the fuel line causing poor running. Lift the boot floor carpet and remove the inspection plate above...

I bought 2 sunroof to glass seals on ebay part number RTC 6481 but they are nothing like the seals on my disco with electric sunroofs. Can anyone advise me of the correct part number for the seals before I contact the seller on ebay. :rolly:

Easier to replace the seat although you can replace the webbing but don't know if you can get them. 200tdi seats are different fitting to 300tdi and seats are not interchangeable.

Should fit to the best of my knowlege the only real difference in the bodywork is the rear bumper and headlights.

This happened to me once but only once. Switched of engine and back on again with no more probs.

I live in Northern Ireland and the diesel is much cheaper over the border so it's worth the trip.

I get my straight white diesel for just under 90p a litre anyway so maybe not worth the bother.

The spider is part of the alarm system which immobilises the fuel pump and starting system. It is a small black box which on 2 button key fob discos sits above the heater matrix. Eventually the heat from the heater deteriorates the soldered joints in the spider and out of the blue the starter...
