Thanks for that... I did notice while doing other stuff in the bay there was a wire off the altenator with a female to take a spade connector that wasn't connected. Ive reconnected it but it didnt feel very 'sturdy'... perhaps thats it? I'll check it.

An update... I took the head off, did a bit of investigating and found that cyclinder 2 had more travel than the rest when tdc. Bent rod! A good friend had a 300tdi bottom end in bit's so I pinched a piston and rod and used the shells from my bent rod... I've put it back together, thankyou...
