Transfer Box rebuild - Timken bearing issue????

Thanks as ever for your comment James. I use an inner race with a cut and upside down so it only touches the inner race and not the cage. Do you think if it didn't touch the cage it would still be a problem??

Transfer Box rebuild - Timken bearing issue????

Hi All, Rebuilding a 1996 300tdi transfer box and was going ok. Rebuild kit bought from Ashcrofts. Issue is that I pressed on the rear diff carrier bearing (JLM104948) (after heating in oven for 10 mins) and it went on fine (using old inner race to press). Flipped the diff assemble over to...

Salisbury Carrier Bearings NTN or Timken

Hi Guys/Gals I know there are many posts on the Salisbury diff but... Have a whiny rumbling from the rear and by jacking up and running with one wheel in the air managed to rule out wheel bearings so probably diff bearings. Never done a salisbury before (will have a go without spreader) but I...

    300tdi Lift Pump (Delphi)

Hi Guys, Quick question. Have a leaking (oil) lift pump so decided to swap out the one on (looks like cheap pattern part) with a spare Delphi. Took the old one out and noticed that the the arm on the new delphi is offset. Has this been bent in transit or is it an improved design. Doesn't look...

    Series 3 v Series 2a Lower Handbrake Mount/Pivot

Hi Everyone, Looking to re-chassis my 2a 88, Due to availability and future proofing may want to use a galvanised S3 chassis. I understand that the front brake pipe mounts are different, it appears that the upper handbrake mounts are similar on the 2a to 3 (mine is a late 2a) Question is - are...

Anyone else getting fed up fitting new 'broken parts'

Not on my ones as the leaky bleed valve is not fitted as such as in middle of a hose that is fitted and the seals fell to bits from the inside - not immune to the odd mistake but not on these - OEM or bust!!!

Anyone else getting fed up fitting new 'broken parts'
