What have you done to your Landie today.

I had to make it smoke a bit, Best saying ever :D But on a serious note it really does shift low down, and now thanks to the disco transfer box I'm not changing gear all the time. I get between about 5mph extra each gear, makes a difference :)

What have you done to your Landie today.

Adjusted the diaphragm on the fuel pump properly to suit the allisport intercooler and new waste gate feed position (on the inlet manifold)... Wow what a difference, pulls like a train now, even with the discovery transfer box and 265/75 M/T's. Only a bit of black smoke at full tilt :D

I bet the chassis would bend before that, looks great :D

What have you done to your Landie today.

Around North Wales I get more waves off Disco owners. All the Defender's are owned by farmers and are TDCi.

A idiot designed my land rover!

One of the most subtle design flaws of my Defender 200tdi... Having to take the timing casing off to change the thermostat housing, unless you cut the bolts down, because they touch the timing casing before the bolt is wound out of the head. Bloody ****e idea and a complete lack of thought. I...

Ah right, I see what you mean. Tbh mine is very happy at 50mph in 5th and is at less than 2000rpm. I've taken it up to 70mph but it really doesn't seem to appreciate it, at the end of the day it's still a 2 tonne house brick :D I'm just happy that it will sit more comfortably at normal road...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Really? Very surprising  But that said, I've got rebuilt 200tdi (pistons/shell bearings/overhauled fuel pump/injectors/etc) with a straight through exhaust, big intercooler, K&N filter, tweaked fuel pump and tweaked turbo. Mine will pull 40-45mph up a small incline in 5th. Granted that...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Over the last few days, I've fitted a Disco Transfer box to my Defender 90, Relocated the turbo pipe to the wastegate. It's now from inlet manifold - wastegate actuator. Made a hell of a difference :D Will refit the boost gauge and see what it's currently running tomorrow and wind it up if it's...

Fitted a Disco transfer box to my Defender yesterday, chuffed to bits with it :D

    Discovery Alloys?

No problem at all and thanks very much :) With 30mm spacers they give a good stance and I don't think you will have a problem fitting those alloys. TBH they are not my favourite alloys when they have small tyre (Less than 235/75) But with 265/75 they look the dogs bollocks :D Also people have...

    Discovery Alloys?

Cheers mate :D It has standard height HD suspension which is approx +1" lift. It's got 30mm spacers and 265/75R16 Cooper Discoverer STT tyres :) Here's a few more up-to-date picture though :D

whats the best defender engine ? poll

No reason to doubt this, they are a good lump. Quieter than a 200tdi and the front end is slightly easier to work on. The auto 300tdi ones do have a bit of electrics for the kick down and some later 300tdi's have a box for the fuel pump control and EGR IIRC. Have heard they are a bit less...

A nice dilemma - advice please

The only problem if nobody buys new cars, there will soon be no cars for us tight sods to buy :D

A nice dilemma - advice please

IMO If I wanted to spend that much money, I would rather have the cost of a new Defender spent on a complete custom built 200/300tdi. Galv chassis, galv bulkhead, TD5/Puma Doors and loads of mods. For me it would make more sense. But there might be many who prefer a brand new vehicle. But I'd...

Wow, where would this fit on your dashboard? :D

    On-Off-Momentary toggle switch?

Thanks all for your advice/offers. I will probably look into them carling switches. They look pretty decent :)

    On-Off-Momentary toggle switch?

Has anybody ever seen or know if an 'On-Off-Momentary' toggle switch is available? I want one for my roof lights so I can either 'flash' or 'keep on' Haven't been able to find any, maybe there's no such thing :p Cheers
