What have you done to your Landie today.

Pretty much finished my tow ball mounted Mountain bike rack. Using a roof bar thule rack, pictures tomorrow hopefully. Working nights for the next two days so might not happen tomorrow :D

What have you done to your Landie today.

After fitting the Mantec wheel carrier yesterday and adjusting the door latch today, there is ZERO play in the rear door when it's closed, Success :D Checked levels under bonnet too :)

whats the best defender engine ? poll

300tdi, quieter, not as strong IMO

whats the best defender engine ? poll

The main noticeable difference for me is the 300tdi is quieter but they're more mechanically unstable if pushed hard. IMO You'll break a 300tdi before a 200tdi.

That takes some doing. Also looks like the 'superior' sliding caliper is wearing one side more than the other

What have you done to your Landie today.

Just decided how much better my 200tdi is compared to a TD5. My dad had a TD5 discovery to fix that kept stalling and not re-starting. RAC fella told my dads mate that it was the tank fuel pump. £270 of genuine pump later, still the same, and no fault codes showing up. Wouldn't trust a TD5 as...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Nearly finished adapting my roof bike rack to a tow ball bike rack. Much safer for both me and the bike if it's lower down and more accessible :)

    Gearing on my Defender

That perfect, thanks very much, according to this the defender transfer box with 285 tyres is about 200rpm higher, so it shouldn't struggle in 4th, Cheers :D

    Gearing on my Defender

Hi all Been searching high and low and haven't found an answer :D Basically, I have put a 1.2 (Discovery) ratio transfer box in my Defender 90, with 265/75 R16 tyres and it pulls fine, exept it doesn't like 30mph in 4th and with all the hills around where I live I'm constantly between 4th...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fixed the earth problem on my O/S headlight, found a terminal block that was joining feed wires, which are, in my opinion, the work of Satan. Changed that for crimped terminals, and the headlight is no longer stealing an earth from the indicators and stopping them from working. Also re-wired the...

Gotta be a ringer? Anyone on here know it before or after?

True, and to my knowledge (and experience) Paypal are ALWAYS on the buyers side. I recently sold a Bose iPod adapter, sent it to the buyer, he said it was faulty, I told him to send it back and I'll refund his postage providing that it was faulty. Got it back and it worked perfectly and I have...

    My first Defender

I used very similar stuff, it was fine until we had that heatwave back in the summer, because I have a black roof it heated up very quickly and started to sag. I ended up just putting three strips of thin mahogany across to hold it up until I get a LaSalle headlining :D

Thats strange, my oil light didnt go out!

Actually thinking about it, when you start up on a cold morning, guaranteed the oil doesn't reach the pistons for a second or two, surely can't be worse than having no oil for the first second or two....

    My first Defender

Tbh I've never heard of using acrypol as a seal, might be beneficial. I've always used either silicone sealant or seam sealer. Silicone is good but needs perfect conditions to set properly and it smells like ****e+vinegar :o Dynamat is quite a common way of soundproofing but is, as you say...

Thats strange, my oil light didnt go out!

If that were me the piston would have seized and the con rod would have melted  Very lucky sir :D

    My first Defender

I used camping mat material, waterproof and decent sound deadening, but I found it hard to get a glue that will put up with heat. I've got a black roof so absorbs heat really badly :welcome: By the way :D
