Was even tempted to go for a withams reconditioned unit(2.5na) and replace the clutch with a new one, as apposed to putting a tdi in. Then the wife intervened....

The recon one thats on withams at the moment has a label that says Caterpillar reconditioning division, if thats the case then it should be a very good class A recon unit.

The problem I have with adding pas, larger tyres etc is weight and lack of power. If I start thinking of all the things I would like to add like pas, a nice big (heavy) canvas tent, side awnings, extra battery, roof rack etc then all of a sudden I end up havine to add a 200 tdi lump.

yes, that would help a lot as well. mine will do about 60 but like yours its loud at that speed...any more than 60 is plain silly lol. Not sure which I have, other than its a ex military fitted for radio 110. My mates 110 ex military soft top goes quicker, but I would think it's because of the weight ? you must check stuff like similar seized hand brakes, blocked fuel filter and sediment collecter is free of water and mung.

I use alpinequest app...you can use your old memory map (qct files) and if you use the 1.8 version of mobile atlas creator, you can create offline maps(bing satellite etc) in the format that alpinequest can read. It can also save a download itself for offline reading of topo maps and a lot more...
