thanks yella i will do that as i havent finished yet. in my opinion the wiper doesnt push hard enough on the screen missing a section at the top of its arc. is there a way of increasing the pressure on the screen. a little bend of the arm normally would do it but as it is a plastic arm ?

fixed it !!! had a closer look at the washer jet block located within the wiper arm. there are four jet holes that, with a poke with a pin, are now free and squirting just fine.
