Hi tomcat59alan I have the plastic to and housing , no smoke from the engine unless you give it a real hard quick boot then i get a bit of black smoke but it very soon clears

On the p38 2.5 DHSE is there 2 types of oil filter, I only ask as i sent for one and it is two big but they are insistent it is the right one. It is the cartridge type of filter. Also is it normal for the engine to use half a ltr of oil say every 3K miles as i can see no leaks

Ah the VM ! I was told never to buy a RR with a VM in it, so i did and what an engine . Wow they were loud , had that RR Classic for 7 years and that engine never let me down.

Well checked the oil in auto box and went through the motions again and oil level was good, put just 3/4 ltr in the transfer box went for a test run and all was OK no noise . Thanks for all your input on the matter it really helped a lot , Keith thanks for mentioning the transfer box as it...

Yeah , i am hoping it is not anything like that but if it is then i will have to deal with it. When i did the auto box oil / filter change the oil that came out was very clean really and i know the guy i got it from had not done a change in about 8 months going by the service documents ...

Hi Keith, Oil level OK in auto box but must confess not done the transfer box yet but also not used the RR much since then only done about 19 mile . It is hard to explain the noise , at first i thought it was something in the engine bay like an heat sheald vibrating at a said rev but thought...

Not a sound from it in neutral , only starts when revs get around 2500 and goes when gets to 2700/ 2800 in drive . when fully warmed up nothing and sounds sweet. While all this is going on the box will change gears without problem.

Yeah changed oil / filter 2 weeks ago . It is like a vibration rattle with out the vibration if you know what i mean , like something is vibrating when engine gets to 2500 revs then goes away at higher revs then when hot the noise stops all together . Dose not make a noise when cold at lower revs

Hi. Are all p38 2.5 DT auto boxes noisy when cold or just warming up as you drive . Mine is but when hot no noise at all, dose my head in .. I think i much prefer the manual

Bet your pleased you don't live in Bradford, Just renewed mine last night .......£761.00 and i have Full NCB ... never ever made any claims ..and i also have an advanced driving certificate yes i did shop round first
