Have you got a Name for your Discovery??

Bargain - named by the missus coz I got it at about £1200 below list price but have spent best part of £1800 in the first year (and still needs work).

    Air suspension compressor

Mine did the same. Was a faulty ride height sensor. Also, forgive me for stating the obvious... but have you checked the fuses :).

    EGR Blanking problem.

Also bear in mind that legislation may change in the future and we may have to put the EGRs back on for M.O.T's. Therefore I'd be inclined to get the job done properly so that you can "easily" remove the blanking plate in the future if required.

    disco td5 diesel fuel consumption

1999 TD5 manual 155K miles, no mods just regular service. With the usual mix of driving I get between 475 - 490 miles from a tank in the Winter months and around 510 - 530 in the warmer months. I've just blanked off the EGR but yet to complete a full tank since so can't comment on any fuel...

    TD5 Stainless Steel Brake hoses

Ta for the advice guys. A set of standard length hoses it is then. Was looking to get a set of Goodridge pipes anyway as they appear the best value (from Famous Four). I'll check the metal pipes next time she's up on the ramp (which probably won't be that long away). Must do fixes in the...

    TD5 Stainless Steel Brake hoses

I recently had an advisory note from my M.O.T. regarding a rear brake hose which was showing signs of perishing. I have a 1999 Disco TD5 with rear air suspension but occasionally greenlane so use the offroad button to raise the rear suspension. I'm considering replacing all the hoses with...

    price to replace clutch

I bought the kit for my TD5 Disco for about £100. Garage in Crawley charged me £250 to fit it. These prices DIDN'T include the flywheel.

hole cut in bellhousing and red fluid

Just before you eventually move, organise a meeting and/or greenlaning session in your area and invite us all back for a drink ;)... they think they are already ticked off with a couple of 4x4's. Imagine the look on their faces if a dozen or so 4x4's turned up outside their property :).

TD5 - Outrigger bolts and side steps?

Thanks Oldskool... I'll give it a go at the weekend. And thanks for the welcome even though I've been on here since before Xmas... For the record... B&Q wanted over £8 for five bolts... Guy Salmon Landrover want £1.20 each for the proper part... I only need the 1 bolt so a bit of a no-brainer :).

    Ideas for the roof.....

Have to agree with the Union Jack or maybe the Cross of Saint George (easier to get right :))? If you do go for the UJ just make sure it is correct for your chosen viewing angle and not upside down.

JamesMartin, You're a star... thanks for the help... hope I can be of assistance in return one day.

TD5 - Outrigger bolts and side steps?

Hi James(?)Martin, Thanks for the prompt response... don't fancy drilling through the floor (a bit drastic) so will have to look at putting bolt in upside down as you suggest. What is the bolt size / thread size? Can I get a bog standard bolt from a hardware store or does it need to be of a...

TD5 - Outrigger bolts and side steps?

I am trying to put sidesteps on my 1999 Disco TD5 (for passengers suffering with arthritis). I have managed to remove the nuts from 3 out of the 4 outrigger bolts in order to attach the steps (Bearmach rubber coated if of any interest). I have regularly soaked the bolts in WD40 over the past...

    bios plate refit ...suggestions

On the subject of tightening nuts it isn't just the amateurs... I had my clutch changed by a "Specialist", drove 1/2 mile down the road and the rear prop shaft disconnected from the donut!!! The nuts hadn't even been put back on?!!

    Pipe part number

Hi Lodgey... If I'm right it's the feedback hose to the expansion tank(?). These are a a dealer part (Will set you back around £15). When mine went (at about the same point you indicated) I unclipped it from the radiator etc and ran it across the top of the engine acoustic cover (as it was a...

    air suspension

I had mine do the same recently... one of the height sensors had broken so was hanging too low... the garage just cable tied it back up in position and all was well with the world :). Check the simple things first...

Help!!!! Air suspension dropped... won't come back up!!

For anyone interested it was a height sensor giving up. There was no signal from the sensor at all. Replaced it and all was well with the world :)... just got to get it through the M.O.T. now. Thanks for trying guys.
