    series 3 2.5na starting issues

You have obviously got some faults with the wiring and or starter but 10 seconds isnt long enough on the glow plugs in my experience. Try 20 or 30 or even 60 seconds with the engine cold in winter. They are all different but thats what mine needs and it is a good runner. Billy

    Air filter roar

I cut the legs off mine as I was going to fit it where the oil bath would go. Then I decided to move the battery under the seat and removed the whole assembly. So I just put some rubber round it and cable tied it to the inlet manifold. A bodge i know but I will fix it properly one day. I liked...

    Air filter roar

If that is a 2.5 nas engine why not put the paper filter and canister from a 90 on it. If you get the correct hose it will lie on top of the air inlet till you decide where to put it. I have had mine on for three years and still not decided.

Which rear leaf spring is which?

If you sit them on level ground together, the drivers side spring will sit higher. if they are both the same it wont matter which is which.

    viscous fan

If you clamp the fan belt so it cant spin a set of mole grips should grip the nut. There is a special spanner for it. A sharp tap with a hammer will loosen it ,reverse thread as mentioned. The fan should come off. The nut sits behind the fan and just inside it.

    Steering Damper

I dont think any SWB had them as standard. I fitted mine with one but I think I prefer it without. Some people really don't like them.

    2.5 N/A into Series 3 109 diesel

I have been running the 2.5na for 3 years now and am very happy with it. I dont tow and its a shortie truck cab, but it goes really well and when it doesnt I can throw it away. Only cost £60.

2.5na into swb petrol - heater plugs

Been a couple of years since I did it but, I kept the petrol ignition, I wired the fuel stop solenoid from the white coil cable. I used the 2.5 engine harness which has a spare brown cable for the heaters. If using the series wiring I think you could splice the main brown cable or run a new one...

    Single acting Shock absorbers?

The swb act in one direction only. I changed my front shocks recently and am pretty certain they damped one way. Still have rears in boxes and can check. They were the cheap standards from Paddocks.

    Pump timing on a 109

I really like my 2.5. very tempted to have a spare. I will pm you if thats o.k.

    Pump timing on a 109

Do it just a little at a time, and before you turn the pump you MUST slightly loosen the injector pipes (best at BOTH ends) because if you don't the ends may break off later. Do not end up putting strain on the injector pipes, and do make sure the correct pipe clamps are fitted in the right...

    Traitor !

I think thats a shame, I enjoyed your comments and tips. I,ve struggled for two hours just putting my shockers back on so I know the feeling.

    Diesel tickover

I think its wear in the engine and or gearbox mounts, the whole unit moves with the the action of the handbrake mechanism.

    4.70 or 3.53

I have the high ratio diffs in my swb with a 2.5 na deisel. I really like them, and the car goes really well. I have an overdrive and use it occasionally on the motorway and the beast will sit at 60 to 65 quite comfortably. I would go faster but I am too scared to try. I dont do much off road so...

    Jumping transfer box

In the short term you could use a piece of wood with a v cut in it to jam it in place. In the long term check the gearbox and engine mountings to find out why its rocking.

    Diesel starting problems!

Dont know about 1914rick but I followed your advice and my 2.5 is starting a lot better. Thanks for the tip. Really valuable in this weather.

    Series III Rear Floor Restoration

I replaced my rotten floor with a new sheet of aluminium. I replaced the ribs with ones from a 90 and dont remember them not being level. I pop riveted the sheet in place but put a rubber strip between the ribs and the floor. It seemed to work ok. I didnt repair the ribbing just took out the...

    Bingo Wings

Yeah thanks, They are missing, I havent put them back on yet so I will get everything tightened up and fitted and if that doesnt work I will learn to live with it. Its just I had a six cylinder years ago and it drove me crazy trying to fix them. But this time I will make sure I have tried...

    Bingo Wings

My wings are sagging, I,ve tried loosening all the fixings and adjusting, still not sitting right. Any solutions other than buying new wings which is not an option.
