    Bad vibrations

I think I replaced a track rod end for the last MOT. So that is definitely another thing to check. It has rusted up a lot underneath so i am going to go through everything again as its around 5 years since I rebuilt it and I have the urge to do it all again.

    Bad vibrations

Sorry I forgot to update this topic. I changed the engine mounts, better, still not right. Checked the front prop again and there was movement in the splines so removed it. Better, still not right. Oiled the springs as the ride was getting quite uncomfortable, much better. So I think it was a...

    Bad vibrations

Its a nasty vibration by that I mean it is loosening fuel lines, the odd bolt and even weakened the sill where the aluminium was turning to powder. Front prop is fine. Funnily enough I had to change a couple of exhaust brackets a few months ago so can check again. SS exhaust but the brackets...

    Bad vibrations

OK I will change the engine and gearbox mountings when they arrive and if no joy I will try a spare diff on the back and let you know how that goes. If that doesn't work I will think about breaking the engine and getting the bike out.

    Bad vibrations

I know I will probably get a pounding for this, but in over 40 years of driving Gipsies and Land Rovers I have never balanced a wheel.

    Bad vibrations

The 2.5 nas in my series three swb has developed a bad vibration. At first changed uj,s in rear prop then suspected diff. Now am pretty sure it is the Engine, I changed the injectors as it was hard to start and have ordered new engine and gearbox mountings but wondered if I am missing something...

    Stop selnoid

If it is a petrol loom you could use the white cable for the coil. Basically you need a live feed that remains live during cranking so find a spare or wire one in.

    2.5 difficult starting

I have a 2.5 nas diesel in my series and it is getting hard to start. Always needs two or three tries and heat for much longer than it should, with winter approaching what would you recommend. It smokes blue and black on start up and under load when cold very black. Air filter, fuel filter and...

    Water pump

Just to update on this, I have been on holiday but the new pump leaked so now I am back took it off and new gasket etc. Still a leak, it looks like it may be a crack in the block above the corner bolt. Anyone had this? or have any ideas. My thinking is to strip out the timing case and have a...

    Water pump

Yes I broke the impeller on my old one with my messing about trying to make things fit, taking no chances with the new one.

    Water pump

So just to update, the flange on my new water pump was wrong, lesson learnt, must specify exactly which water pump. Tried to mix and match with my spare, no joy. Weekend wasted. Strange they are not interchangeable.

    Water pump

So something made me look under the bonnet tonight and I could hear a rough bearing, water pump or alternater I thought. A fine jet of water appeared and five minutes later large pool. My question is I have an old engine (2.5 nas diesel by the way ) and I want to swap the water pump from it...

    Series 3 Historic Tax

Yes same for me, its not much money in the grand scheme of running a series land rover but its going to give me immense pleasure, although I will just put the money straight back into the land rover.

    Series 3 Historic Tax

There is a good guide on the Rover P6 owners forum. Mines should be tax free from April also.

    Series 3 Higher gearing

I have the 3.54 diffs in my 88 pick up with 2.5 nas diesel and they work well. Used to have 7.50s on and it struggled a little on the hills had to drop to 3rd. If you use motorways and want to keep up with traffic I would recommend them. I have the overdrive and never use it, scary if I do. I...

    Series 3 I have a plan... 88" camper

I think that looks great, but removing the bulkhead would be tricky. Wonder who has made a good job of it. Agree the LWB is easier it is the right length to sleep in the back.

    Front hub help.

Got to agree, mine turned 180 on a snow covered road, unnerved me completely. Got overtaken by a Range Rover, never lived it down. Sure it was the hubs. Billy
