What causes a wobbly gear stick?

You're right. I'll have to find a LR supplier. Until now I've not had to use one. This is how one of the bushes from the kit looks

    Wading kit - without snorkel

Why are you getting less than 30mpg?!

    Wading kit - without snorkel

That would be why they used the V6 in the G4 challenge then! I like my 45mpg when I'm not wading!!

What have you done to your Freelander today

I heard rumours the Freelander doesn't retain its remapped settings. Has anyone else heard this and has it been fixed?

    Wading kit - without snorkel

Awesome photo though!!! I doubt I'll ever take on anything that deep but I would think a 2" lift kit, modular rims & large tyres & a breather kit will be fine for most flooded roads then. My little town is fine but everywhere else around here is flooded from the water running off the Downs!

    Removing the rear box - 2001 Td4

I am friends with the mot guy so I'm sure it will pass if it is safe.

    Removing the rear box - 2001 Td4

Thanks for the reply I was going to remove the rear box & replace it with something like this so it looks 'finished' but also minimalist!

Any idea how I can move my alternator??!!

    Boost gauge mounting options

Thanks for that. I'm using the Synergy 2a so will go for a 30psi gauge. Will try to find the turbo charger & waste gate!

    towing vcu question

I should mention, it's worth removing the prop if your VCU is on its last breath as it will prevent it damaging over parts on its way out! I had a nasty wine from the rear diff until I took the VCU off, silent as a lamb now. I also had the heavy braking effect when reversing on full lock which...

    towing vcu question

The Freelander only uses 4wd when it needs it. So you won't save any fuel, etc unless your VCU is damaged & therefore it will currently be having a negative affect on your fuel so the improvement will return it to what it should have been. If you remove the prop like I have because mine is worn...

    Boost gauge mounting options

Where does the hose connect to under the bonnet? Also is there any particular range the boost gauge must cover to be accurate?

    Removing the rear box - 2001 Td4

Aside from the "it won't pass an MOT without a rear silence", I need to remove and rub down & re-spray rear box. Having looked underneath it appears that the silencer is clamped onto the exhaust after it passes over the rear subframe. If I was to remove the silencer & replace it with a cheap...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I changed my rear diff oil. What a pain to do. Had it on ramps at the rear so when I removed the drain plug nothing came out, except the sludge & metal shavings stuck to the plug! Removed all the bolts holding the rear plate on & drained all the oil out. Cleaned everything up & refilled, had to...

    Wading kit - without snorkel

Rear diff breather currently hangs on chassis just above the rear diff. Could attach to where it enters the diff case Then run along the underneath clipping into the spare clips either above or below the brake lines The bring it up into the engine bay & into a breather manifold where the...

    Wading kit - without snorkel

Why would you have to waterproof the alternator? I thought I was just the spark plugs you had to protect if you have a petrol engine. Does a diesel need protecting in the same way or will it cope so long as the air intake is higher than the water level & the gearbox/diff breathers don't get...

    Wading kit - without snorkel

I know the subject has been thrashed out on this forum in many different threads but after all the flooding some people have suffered this winter I thought perhaps it was a good idea to install a wading kit. I know we're told the Hippo will float before it starts to need a snorkel, but when...

What have you done to your Freelander today

That it will!! Get used to it!!!! A Land Rover is a hobby not just a car! I removed the cover on my rear diff, cleaned to within an inch of its life, put new gasket sealant on it & refitted. Just looking to see if I've got the correct oil for it now! Perhaps I should have checked that before!!
