Single mass clutch vs dual mass clutch

Not towing anything yet but I do like to have the Synergy box turned up & the clutch has gone from just a heavy pedal to serious slipping. Tempted to get the same HD clutch as SES88 so I won't have to worry about giving it abuse!

Single mass clutch vs dual mass clutch

Thanks for all the replies Took the Freelander out today. Synergy 2a box set on 3, 5th gear up a slight hill, revs we're climbing & clutch started smelling. Definitely need to change it!! Which clutch would cope with the most abuse? DMF or SMF?

Single mass clutch vs dual mass clutch

When I take the clutch apart I'll replace everything for peace of mind. Don't want to be stripping it down only to have to replace another part later! Will have a read of your post

Single mass clutch vs dual mass clutch

Hi envy one I'm looking at getting a new clutch for my 2001 Td4 as I think the clutch is slipping since fitting the Synergy 2a tuning box. At around 2500rpm the revs increase without the speed increasing at the equivalent rate, then the revs settle down again. So I was thinking of fitting a...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Mine is insured in sleepy Seaford where all the oldies drive a Hyundai so a big old Freelander is cheap to insure here. In fact when I moved down from London I was refunded £850 on my mk4 1.8 Astra. Too bad I let my NCD expire otherwise my insurance would be even cheaper! 1999 Kawasaki ZX9R is...

I thought about replacing my front discs on my Freelander 1 Td4 with drilled & grooved discs. Would you recommend them? I've just replaced the pads with Mintex pads so probably best to change the discs soon.

Yes please, that would be great if you could find it. My astra Mk4 had one touch up & down on both the driver & passenger windows.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I think its standard one touch down only. My dads old 418td only had auto down. Has been a Rover standard feature for many years.

Its a pain, anyone know how to modify it to a "one touch" up too?

    Wading kit - without snorkel

I guess for any serious wading you'd just get a more suitable vehicle! Like a Disco or Tratter. V6 does sound the best but with the Synergy 2a box the Td4 now flies. A friend has a golf GTDi with 150bhp & my Hippo edged in front in a drag. Doesn't handle as well round corners but the Golf can't...

I was getting 35mpg with a dodgy VCU. Now I've removed the prop its up to 45mpg+. Waiting to see what the Synergy 2a does to fuel economy. Sounds like something definitely isn't right on your car.

    Wading kit - without snorkel

London driving kills any fuel economy! I used to live in Chadwell Heath, Ilford & Barking at different times & crawling through traffic was a killer. My main mode of transport was a ZX6R then, the only way I could afford to commute!!
