    Thanks but have done that. You can twist it every whichway and still get 12v reading BUt as soon as it meets other metal ( ie solenoid spade) output drops to zero

    Can anyone explain this? The white wire from the ignition reads 12volts BUT as soon as you put it on the solenoid spade NOTHING! Also when the wire reads 12 v and you dab the bare end on metal...nothing! WHY? whats happening to the power? What is causing this drop to zero volts? HELP!

    I need to get some mild steel formed up to patch me S111 chassis. What guage was the original chassis metal? Also as I am going to be using an old stick welder what setting would people recommend?

    Okay data plate infor as follows: Top of plate reads "Truck Utility CL 1/2 ton 4x4 W/Trailer attachments Rover Series 3 (P) Chassis No 90139266A Vehicle No 07GN39 Cont No WV 8765R 2993 Code No 1621.0778 Can anyone decipher all that?

    Davec thanks for replying Will check tomorrow and let you kow. There is a plate at floor level on the drivers side but no maintainance dates stamped on it. It also has the oil cooler fitted in front of the rad. As it is right hand drive I reckon its of British origin. It has a truck cab now...

    Currently working on a tatty ex military S3 for a mate. It came into civvy street in the 1990s and he has been told he it is NOT eligible as a tax exempt vehicle as it was first registered in 1990s. But I thought it was the build date that counted.............. What is the real sp on this?
