hiya matt, i bought my freelander 6 weeks ago, & it has an aftermarket stereo fitted, my steering wheel controls still work, but not sure if a harness adaptor has been used:confused:, best to plug it all in & see what happens, if they don't work, you can get harness adaptors from halford's;)...

yeah, i must say it was bloody heavy, & a bit akward with the props moving around lol:D, never mind, all sorted, most important to me ;):)

no i did'nt support prop's:o, dropped them carefully, just let them rest on the floor, however, did support vcu, as for the bearings, bought them from bell at the same time, & they kindly fitted them, opened up the box, all there ready to go;):), excellent service:D

hi marc, having replaced mine this w/end, i can say removal is simples;), however, i & ubersmee have had issues with the front prop not wanting to split from vcu:mad:, large must grumble, i left it soaking in wd40, then took out the original 17mm bolt from prop, put in a 10mm with a couple of...

i must agree, been out in mine today, completley different vehicle with new vcu:), very impressed with bell enginerings product & service;)

hiya, is it a uj that's knackered, if so, save yourself some money, terrain vrhicles in hastings do a pair of uj's for £7.50, i got mine out by taking the bolt all the way out of the joint, then got a slightly shorter 10mm nut with a couple of washers that sit inside the yoke on the spline face...

you must have, taken me 12 hours in all :Cry::Cry::Cry: front prop would'nt split from vcu, soaked in wd40, then had to think outside the box to remove it;), finally all done, test drive tommorow:eek: see how it is:)

as far as i know, 'coz it is now 2wd, & it is classed as a modification from standard:)

tryed that, that's how i bent the chisel:mad:, worked fine on the rear prop:confused:, think someone has had a go before, when removing, front bearing totally out of allignment, deriously thinking of changing uj's as well, then i can ask my mechanic to press the damn thing off:)

:eek::eek::eek: that is exactly what has happened:mad:, front prop will not move, soaked in wd40, tried for 4 hours in total, bent my chisel:mad::mad:, then p****d down, so had to leave it, try again this morning:rolleyes:

hiya, i had the same problem when looking for mine, i personally think a comprehensive history is a must ( garage or receipts from diy), & general overall condition;), check for any noises underneath as these can be expensive:eek:, have a browse through the threads on here, will give you an idea...

if you look at the top of this page, you will see the how-to guide, look at hippos vcu bearing replacement guide, exactly what you need to know:) ( 'coz you have to remove the vcu)
