Thanks brian47, investing in a set of 16's might have to wait a while. Thanks Discool, I get the tape measure part , I didn't realise that I'd actually have to remove the shocks to measure them though. However, wait for it, dumb question coming up, if I jack up the axle will I get a close enough...
I don't post much as I use the search function a lot and most of my answers are there. However, got a strange problem. I've been reading posts about the ride quality of the Disco and felt that there is something wrong with mine. Seems to be a bit too harsh on thumps and bumps on the county roads...

Hi guys, been a while.
As mentioned a while a go I'm having a problem with my gearbox. I've checked clutch, Selectors including springs and balls. All seems ok.
I can't select 3rd and 4th. 1st, 2nd and 3rd are okay. Anyone got any ideas what could be causing 3rd and 4th to jam solidly...
Thanks guys, I'll show this to the missus. Wish I could get it up to Normandy, might take a while though😄 cheers. Got a friend who can help either the shifting and my mums hubbie has done a few gearboxes, albeit on tractors, in his time and is coming over for a week end of April.
I'll...
Looks like I'll have to do it myself. The French garage mechanic doesn't want to do it as it looks too much like hard work.
SWIMBO is not amused as the mechanic told her it was too rusty round the floor plates and that we should sell it to an enthusiast who could deal with it properly. Got to...
Hi,
If you don't mind remoulds Insa Turbo are quite good. They are a Spanish make I believe. I ran a set on my old Disco, not the size you want, but they were superb on and off road. They have a couple of choices in your size depending on wether you want on/off road or a mix
Cheers
This could be a stupid question but how do you get to the fixings on the bell housing and flywheel housing? The bulk head is in the way.
My Landie is at my local garage, in France, and the french mechanic wanted to charge me 1000 to remove the engine to get to the gearbox just to look at it...
Yep, 750 on my bonnet no problems. Agree with OZAWOZA though, mounting it at the back would help it stop bouncing about. Mines a 109 css and when running with just me in it it is front heavy.
Only had time today to try this and it didn't work for me, probably because the axle had too much load on it. So I started from the beginning and found this solution worked for me. I've only tried it on the rears as I'd already fitted the fronts independently of each other but I guess the method...
Hi guys,
I've replaced the front leaf springs on my 2.6 109 sw without to many problems. Thought the rear was going to be relatively easy. However, I've hung the new spring ok with the front and rear shackle bolts, got the U-Bolts on and it's only a smidge away from the axle being located on...
Thanks for that guys, nice video, yep sounds just like that but more clockwork whirring.
At least I now know it's okay.
Ajb403, mine's in the same place.
No def the petrol pump, I agree with miggames in that it's got to kick in, but the noise seems a bit excessive. It obviously works but you can't help wondering when it whirs and clicks so load that it could drown our Glastonbury that there might be a problem?
If anyone is a 2.6cyl owner, any...
Hi guys, I was changing the headlights on my landy from RHD to LHD, went to test them and switched on the ignition (yeh I know, force of habit) as I uttered doh, I thought what the Suarez teeth was that. There was a noise like someone arming a Second World War bomb coming from under the car...
Thanks for the reply guys, the leak is between the front exhaust and the exhaust manifold, there is a gap al the way round with, what I assume is the, rubber end of the exhaust pipe visible. At one point the gap between the exhaust manifold plate and the exhaust plate is about 1cm, is that...
