The diesels are way more common, what's the problem with them?

Another question is ex mod, I have seen a few ex mod landys for a decent price but they have the 2.5 na which I have heard bad things about especially with a load on? Anything else to look out for?

What engines are best?

I have seen the prices of defenders and I know you are gonna say no comfort and all. But how about a series 3, they are no where near as expensive and are cheaper to insure and stuff I'm 19 insurance pain. Also no tax and mot and they are so cool. What other disadvantages?

I would love a defender. I am looking to make one for a camper conversion kinda. I am a mountain biker and climber. I also currently work from home mostly as an apprentice. This means I could live out of a landrover and travel about abit :). Here is the hard part, I have always wanted a defender...
