Freelander 1 Can I remove the tailgate trim with door closed? Handle Replacement.

Just went out and looked at mine. I believe armed with a long reach Philips screwdriver (or one with a flexible end), a picture of where the screws are and a sense of humour, the panel could be removed from inside. The tail door seals against metal, and the panel is inboard of the side trims so...

Freelander 1 Freelander 1.8 replacement speedo clocks

I see you've cleaned the rubber button pads, but you could try rubbing a soft pencil over the pads to (temporarily) restore the carbon. It's a cheap thing to try.

Freelander 1 Freelander rear marker lights

Like the idea of the rear ones, but never liked front markers on "cars" - a mate fitted some front markers to his mk1 Astra van, looked nasty(er).

    righty ho

I'm less inclined to think it's hoses, if like mine yours started smoking spontaneously once it was all back together. Unless it's the usual one one the exit from the IC, but seems a bit coincidental. For the same reason I'm not sure about the maf.

    righty ho

I'm quite shocked that I suffered the exact same fault a few months ago, and am also laying a smokescreen. I can't bring anything much to the fault finding yet as I've not started looking in earnest tbh. But mine does have silicone hoses and BMW pcv fitted and I still smoke (mine is moderate...

    Facelift Centre Console

I'm not sure the wiring needs to be changed. I looked into this a while back and if I remember correctly the switch bodies are the same for pre and post facelift, but the front bezel is different. If correct you could simply swap the bezels over and use everything you've already got. Check...

    Freelander Project IV (Bertie)

Don't know specifically for Freelanders TD4, but apparently the M47 when fitted to a 320D makes about 1.4 bar. Given they make 136 odd bhp, you're probably reading right for the freebie.

    Freelander Project IV (Bertie)

Hope it's right! I'm learning too, looking at doing the intake tube mod so my watchlist is full of bits of tube and silicone hoses, just need to work out how they go together... Now I'm thinking of a boost gauge too, always good to see what yer engines doing.

    Freelander Project IV (Bertie)

Yeah I've seen that, but I linked a joiner with a boost take off not an egr. On later td4's there's a joiner pipe with boost sensor to the right of the dipstick after the intercooler, that's what I was suggesting replicating. Of course if you want to re-enable the crimped vac connection on your...

I'm new to turbos too so may be wrong but could you use one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/universal-turbo-boost-gauge-connector-fitting-kit-intercooler-tube-pipe-joiner/151833697201?hash=item2359fe5bb1 Where later td4's have their (?) sensor on the intercooler pipe work before the egr?

Freelander 1 Side repeater on all the time - MOT failure

Looking at the wiring diagram, check the hazard switch or relay. The side repeaters have a separate connection to that in addition to the stalk switch. There may be some back feeding going on.

Safe to ground audio amp off tailgate door frame?

I would do option 2, slightly modified. If you ground to the door the only conductive path to the battery is through the hinges (as you say), and I doubt that's sufficient for an amp. (Unless there's a ground strap already but still I doubt it will be enough). Run the ground cable through the...

    Snorkels for freelanders

Well, the alternator is much lower so you're still taking a gamble with that. I'd call them clean air feeds rather than snorkels... I'm surprised no ones looked at making some alternator relocation brackets (assuming there was room to move it higher).

    Freelander 1 VCU

For what it's worth, when I first got my hippo I was driving around a corner and I could hear tyre squeal as if the inside rear wheel had locked up. Then I tried the reverse lock test and sure enough I stopped dead. Changed vcu shortly after. Didn't do owut as those symptoms (and what i'd...

Blenheim silver like mine. Depends on the light but mine looks slightly yellow sometimes but definitely silver. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/blenheim-silver.292654/#post-3628017

Td4 very rough and smokey engine

Fitted the cyclone pcv and egr bypass last year. Oil level fine. Been out and had a good look. Found nr.3 injector clamp has broken sometime before I got the car, on the half thats left the star headed stud has walked out of the head (or maybe sheared), letting the injector walk out too...
