So, Got it all back together and cant get the diff loc to engage. I can go hi to low but cannot get the light to come on. I figured maybe the light was broke but when I put the selector where it should go for diff loc I can still turn on pavement without it locking up so I figure its not...

What oil do you use for the transfer case?

New clutch kit and HD fork was just installed, slave is fairly fresh. Ashcroft says MTF94 OR ATF dextron 3. They say that they have had better results with the ATF. "The oil recommended by Land Rover is MTF94. However we have recently found this oil to give better results ATF"

I was told that I don't need any parts to do the install. No gaskets,seals...... Is this correct? Thanks.

What has to be removed? When we did my clutch, the bell housing, gearbox, transfer case all came out with the fuel tank. Will all this have to be removed again? Thanks

There are parts in the US but believe it or not, I can land parts in The Bahamas cheaper from the UK. My choice at the moment is Ashcroft or Famous Four. I have been dealing with Famous Four for years and their service has been excellent.

How good is Ashcroft Transmissions?

My gear box is done. No chance of getting a proper trustworthy rebuild in the Bahamas so I have to replace. I would hate to have to send the core back as it would cost a fortune. What are my options on getting a good gearbox for my 1998 300tdi/90 ? Thanks.

So I went to order the parts and the very helpful person told me that before I spend the money try something very simple. He said take out the fill plug and make sure that the gear box is not over filled as that can cause fluid to leak out of the breather hose. I am going to try that this...

I recently changed my clutch, so I had to remove everything from the bell housing back. After I installed the clutch and put it all back together, I also changed the fluid in the gear box. I used ATF. Then my gear box started to leak !. My mechanic has looked at it twice now and swears...

The gear box and transfer case was not separated, do you think there still is a chance that the input seal is the problem? When the oil was drained it came out brown and thick, I replaced it with ATF. I am thinking the ATF is thin and is finding its way out? BTW the gearbox is shifting...

OK, so I changed the fluid and she is shifting much better, BUT, Now she is leaking fluid from the gear box ! Surely I dont have to take it out again? Its a very slow leak, it looks like the gasket between the gear box and transfer case is failing. BTW I just replaced the transfer case...
