Do you need to have proper bench cushions in the back for people to sit there?

My series 3 88" came with cushions for your arse but they are not attached down in any way. There is no kind of back rest or anything. Think that's alright? Don't know if they're original as I haven't seen them anywhere else but they fit perfectly. Here is a picture, not the best but hopefully...

    Oil Filter Housing Gasket

I had a nightmare getting my filter cover on after putting in a new filter my first time. Ended up binning the rubber O ring and just using instant gasket, works well with no leaks. Smear a bit of oil on first (although it will probably be caked in it anyway!) so it comes off easily when you...

Headache doesn't even come close- freelander

Might be a stupid question but surely 500m isn't enough to get the engine hot enough to blow the head gasket?

    Witch side should it be?

My 72 series 3 has it driver's side.

Towing - what does the manual say?

I've never looked for one in a II or IIa but do they not have an info plate like this one? Chassis & Vin Plates Home In my III it's just in front of the gear stick.

    Hats off to Oldseadog!!

What kind of mpg do you get out of a 2.5 n/a? The only think I'd like from my series is half decent fuel economy so thinking of getting an ex mod with one of these engines.

Think I have some marbles in my gearbox.

Yes tried it with the transfer in neutral, still made the noise. Thanks for the help. I think I'm just going to have to leave it till I have more time free, could be quite a while :/ I don't do many miles in it so hopefully it will last.

    is every1 prepared

Why does a muff help the engine warm up faster? The stat shouldn't open till the engine is at the right temperature so there will be no water flowing through the rad anyway.

Think I have some marbles in my gearbox.

I guess the gearbox is going to have to come out anyway regardless of whether it is the clutch release bearing or one in the box itself? Doubt I'm going to have time to do it for quite a while. Is it possible to drop it without removing the crossmember? I don't have a hoist to lift with.

Think I have some marbles in my gearbox.

I changed the oil when I first got it and there were some bits of metal that came out but the noise didn't really change. I changed it again a couple of weeks ago and the oil that came out was clean. Just found a bit in Haynes that says that the decision to take the box out and overhaul depends...

Think I have some marbles in my gearbox.

The noise is worst on overrun. It is there at idle but stops if I push the clutch in, starts back up as soon as clutch is released. I remember it being a bit noisy when I first bought it a year ago and I'm not sure if it has got worse or if I'm being more paranoid about it. It's not...

Do you sleep in your Landy?

I'm really tempted to get a 109 instead of my 88 just so i can sleep in it. 88 has been relatively reliable so far though... *touch wood

    Protecting towing electrics.

One of the rubber gaskets should be in the post. I'm thinking about getting one of those covers too but I'm mainly worried about crud getting in the forward facing side and it won't help that. Maybe they're not usually too bad but I just have memories of them corroding and having loose...

New rear propshaft - ouch and help!

I just stuck a new one on my series 3 a month ago, think it was around £65 from lrseries. I tried changing a UJ on the original one but ballsed it up so had to get a whole new shaft. Don't know what defenders are like but on a series it's an easy job if you have the right shape of socket to get...

    Protecting towing electrics.

Just had a look on ebay and found this rubber thing, which looks like what you guys are talking about: Caravan trailer Rubber Gasket seal for 7Pin 12N and 12S Sockets | eBay The socket I bought didn't come with anything like that but it looks like it would protect it pretty well. I think I'll...

    Protecting towing electrics.

I've just spent a couple of hours wiring towing electrics onto my series 3. Didn't have the original wiring so I had to do it myself, solder and heatshrink. BUT, the plug end seems very open to getting water/dirt in it. The side where the wires all screw in is forward facing and looks like it...

    conversion to full tilt?

I would like to put them on the bulkhead so I don't have to buy the bar but I have inertia reels which have 2 points at the top corner so not sure how it would work. Maybe I could put the inertia reel as the bottom corner instead?

What are you going to do about seatbelts? I would love to take the roof off mine but that is the only thing stopping me.
