Just an update in case anyone reads this in future. I got the defender adapters and the drivers side fits fine. I will have to file down the passenger side spindle to give it a flat side but shouldn't be too hard. Series wiper arms (the bits that the blades attach to) fit onto defender adapters.

Changed your fuel filters?

Try Lancaster and Adrian Flux. I guess a lot of places won't even bother because you're 17 though. I think a series with no mods will be the cheapest to insure.

Series 2a. Was driving along the motorway the other day and my driver side wiper went AWOL! Was chucking it down too. I pulled over and tried to bodge the passenger side wiper onto the drivers side but it didn't work too well. This is what the spindles look like now. The driver side is flat...

Diesel around me is £1.33 and I got veg this time at £0.67 so pretty much half the price. Yes just shove it straight in the tank.

I fitted a new cable and took it out for a test. I think the highest it got to was 20mph and I was definitely going faster than that. Any ideas? I only have 2 of the 3 screws that hold it on at the gearbox end but it seems secure enough.

I had the same problem. New sender fixed it, less than a fiver I think.

What size tyres do you have? Do you have an overdrive?

Speedo is in the center of the bulkhead, it's just the gearbox that's from a series 3 I think. The pictures are of my current broken cable. The problem is that the ones on eBay have a different end (i.e not square). The collar does indeed screw onto the speedo.

The speedo in my 2a 109 wasn't working. I found that the inner cable had snapped part way down so it needs replaced. Here are some pictures of each end, as you can (hopefully) see the ends are square. It is a series 3 gearbox I believe but looking at parts it seems that neither 2a's or...

I don't know what's more impressive, 28mpg or getting up to 85mph!

Some people have had success with garden sprayers but I really can't see them being able to push transmission oil through such a narrow pipe. Oil syringes work reasonably well but don't last long at all.

It's not the seatbelts I'm worried about, I know you don't need them. It was just the fact that I have no back rests and only the seat bases (which aren't attached down)

Not bothered about bodywork but would like a chassis/bulkhead that won't need too much work. The plan is to create a sleeping platform in the back and head to Europe and beyond next summer. Would prefer diesel for economy. I don't mind it being slow and drive like a granny anyway.

V5 doesn't have anything under number of seats, I think it didn't need to at the time it was registered? How do I check the VIN? If I do the DVLA reg check the "vehicle type approval" is "not available"
