I'm going to put the insulation all over roof and sides then put ply over the sides and just some kind of carpet over the roof. Ply on the sides will be useful for hanging stuff, making shelves and resist knocks from when I put bikes in the back. I shouldn't need to hang anything on the roof so...

Got the outer races out with a cold chisel and have left these marks where the races sit. It's on both front hubs but this is the worst bit. If I get the new races pressed in properly would they push these bits back down? I'm worried they wouldn't and would just not sit properly.

I used to have a 2 1/4 petrol 88" on standard diffs and 7.50s and felt it could have coped with higher gearing pretty well. If you haven't got and overdrive I would definitely do it.

Very tempted to take the roof off my 109! I think it would make the noise a bit less deafening. The things stopping me are that I wouldn't be able to leave all my tools in it that I do at the moment and I use my roof rack quite a lot.

The play isn't rotational. It can wiggle up and down a tiny bit at the sliding joint.

Now that I have the prop off and the ends aren't anchored to anything I can't feel any play in it. There was definitely a small amount when it was attached though. Does it definitely need replaced or would cleaning it out and reassembling be any good?

Yes it is the sliding joint that has the play in it and I don't think there is any way to sort it without replacement? I have been packing with grease as a temporary measure. Ok if it's the length that is different I'll take off the current one and measure it up. Thanks a lot!

Would it be bad to leave the clutch pedal depressed? I get the feeling leaving a hyrdraulic system pressurised long periods of time might not be a good idea. Failing that I might try and find a way to lock the accelerator to the floor, would make a lot of noise if you started it!
