Hill descent definitely works so we're going to start using that at the end of the road. Missus tells me the traction control light kicks in occasionally when she's going up hill in the snow so it looks like that is working fine too. This is a great post and the info on how abs really works it...

The ABS still pumps away as we can feel it in the pedal and no warning lights come on. The brake pads and discs are new on last year. At the end of our street there is a small hill turning to the left which comes to a T Junction and requires us to stop. Yesterday driving in first gear going...

haha. Harsh! :p It's actually the girlfriends car. I have however tested it and it does genuinely lock on when the car starts to skid. I assumed the 4 wheel drive system was supposed to deal with the skidding. But that's probably a separate issue from the wheels locking.

2003 3 door, 1.8 kalahari. When breaking on snow, regardless of speed the wheels just lock and the car slides to a halt. As you can imagine very dangerous and extremely frightening when you have no control of the car. According to most reports the Freelander should be excelling in this...

That seems specific to the 2 ltr TD and the TD4. Will that work on the Freelander 1.8 Kalahari Petrol? Edit: The item description actually states "Please note this kit does not repair the petrol version starter motor" . :(

Going to get a new tyre for the Freelander (would really like to do the whole lot but can't afford it). I have another reasonably new one on the car and am wondering which if I should pair the new one up with. I'm sure I read something before that it's important that the new tyres are put on...

lol unfortunately the 6 months has passed for us. We love the car to be honest though, except for the break problem, the 3 amigo problem, a possible drive shaft problem (oil leaking) god knows how much that's going to cost.. We do love the Freelander. :)

Need to get the missus one. Mechanic says the spare wheel is badly cracked from the sun putting it at risk of a blow out on long journeys. He recommended getting a wheel cover for the spare. Any suggestions where to buy one?

Thought I'd post. We bought the car from a local dealer. When we drove the car out of the showroom there were several problems with it. One of them being that the car would roll on a hill with the hand brake on. We took it back as the promised to fix it. They fixed it, or so we thought...

I've found the correct cables for my unit along with the necessary patch cable. I'll post a tutorial (with pictures) when I'm done for people to use if they want to do the same.

I wonder if the rust is part of the reason for a faulty VCU or it's just old and defunct. :confused:
