Freelander 1 Back in the garage again diesel leak!!

It's a possibility I suppose, however it certainly wasn't me if that's what your suggesting. In the month I've owned I have used it 8 times o_O It's been at the garage I bought it from being fixed the other days. Filled it up once to the brim so unless it was a full tank of petrol I put in I...

Ongoing Starting Issues and Fuel Burning Heater

It is strange. The FBH does draw fuel from the tank but has its own lines and pump so couldn't affect the main pump or lines as they're not connected other than at the tank. Have you checked the glow plugs and harness, LP pump in the rear arch, injector harness, fuel rail harness? In fact the...

Ongoing Starting Issues and Fuel Burning Heater

Oh and having no smoke from it means it's working fine, it will sometimes smoke when shutting down due to unburnt fuel getting mixed in.

Ongoing Starting Issues and Fuel Burning Heater

I can't see how the FBH would make a difference to starting? As stated it's designed to come on below 5c to aid fast heating of the engine. It does have a pump though to circulate coolant so it may be that you battery is on its way out and the extra current draw from the FBH is causing the...

    Wheel arch liner screws

Didn't take photo's but can give you a list of what to do: 1: Get a Velleman VM130 from Maplin, these come with a 2 button remote and 2 relays in the control box. The reason I went for this model is it has a variable timer, I have set min to 15 minutes. It also has a built in heater so it...

Freelander 1 Back in the garage again diesel leak!!

Well, spoke to soon...Mrs rang me at work to say she thinks my car is leaking oil as there was a big patch on the drive. Had a look underneath and sure enough diesel leaking at an alarming rate. So back to dealer again, they are gonna take the pump off and take it to Bosch specialists to check...

    Wheel arch liner screws

Yep they're the ones cheers. I did exactly what you want to do. Very easy job...Got a Velleman VM130 remote unit from Maplin, ran a +ve and -ve to the battery and then a +ve from the first relay to the wire from pin 3 on the FBH. The remote receiver sits nicely in the box with the ECU. The...

Freelander 1 Back in the garage again diesel leak!!

Just picked car up. It was the plastic connection at the top of the pump that had cracked, Bosch pump that looked quite new. Guys replaced it with a new Bosch pump and not a cheapo one thank God.

    Wheel arch liner screws

Needed to get the arch liner off to mod my FBH, as the screws were rusted I ended up cutting the heads off. I can find replacement stainless screws but wanted to replace the metal clip they screw into. Any ideas what they are called and where to buy them from? Cheers

Freelander 1 Back in the garage again diesel leak!!

It was the LP pump leaking from the housing so it has been replaced. The garage had it on a clean bit of concrete overnight and couldn't find any diesel leaking from the front and the HP fuel pump was dry. My drive is on a slight slope so the fuel must have been pooling by the front wheel...

    Td4 towing limit

Balls, yep forgot that it's the MTPLM of the trailer that matters. As has been said if the trailer is plated for more the 2000kg you're breaking law. Apologies for my misleading post.

In that case yes you can, but don't forget to add the weight of the trailer and car you have on it :)

Freelander 1 Back in the garage again diesel leak!!

Thanks Joe, the garage I bought it from are dealing with it. I think the previous owner was a bit of a bodger, the LP fuel pump housing was held on with cable ties. I questioned where they got the car from and they said it was a PX, the guy said he was an enthusiast and had done XYZ to it...

Freelander 1 Back in the garage again diesel leak!!

Well, car back to the garage this morning due to LP pump leaking and I suspect the HP pump too. Patches of diesel on my drive by the offside rear wheel (very obvious it's the LP pump as the housing is soaking with diesel) and more concerning is the patch of diesel by the front offside wheel...

    Freelander 2 start/stop

It's the battery, mine did the same. The ECU measures the amount of charge and if below a set level it won't initiate the Stop/Start.

    Back again new Freelander

Evening all! Back in the land of Freelanders after a bit of time out. Got my mitts on a 2004 TD4 HSE, so far had new discs, calipers, brake lines all round, VCU, front prop, clutch and cylinders, drop links, anti roll bar bushes, rear diff bushes and a full service. These were courtesy of the...

    Freelander never fails to impress

Thing is I'm not having a dig at the capabilities of other vehicles, it's just amusing when you see one of the beasts struggling to move a couple of feet and you just drive past with no drama. Has happend a few times, particularly on ice covered tracks, the Freelander just seems to excel. I...

    Freelander never fails to impress

I am always suprised when my little Landy does something I'm impressed with. On site yesterday and 1 of the lads I work with has a brand new company HiLux. Site we had to get to was up through a steep field with a muddy track. So colleague says I'll go first in case you get stuck, cue lots of...
