No. One fig tree, no figs. Possibly too young. We have a grapefruit tree which was grown from a pip. It was 20 years before it bore fruit.

Well I didn't want to open up another load of conflab and I can't remember your original post but I think I broadly agreed with it and also your above post. I'm not taking any pensions yet and will probably never truly retire, both occupational schemes are old and tiny and the personal one...

Wow that's one productive tree. I'll be picking grapes at the end of the month, almonds at the end of Sep and oranges at Christmas.

Nice. I assume that's 90 or 110mm pipe. I have got lots and lots of photos like that, I could really bore people... It's worth getting it central though, apart from any practical considerations I would probably for ever look at it being off-centre and regret not sorting it out.

I have to say I am not trying to be deliberately evasive but it really does depend. I couldn't think of anything better in the face of not wanting to commit to a place that I am not always in, didn't want to keep changing it and in the face of the world we live in today didn't want a profile...

It is usually possible to twist the pipes out by hand - there was another fitting on the end which is now mangled but that came off. The length of the whole run was critical so I pushed them all the way home to get it right, that one was stuck. Maybe the internal bore had a lump or flaw. I...

Bit of a plumbing problem today. Doing a dry run to set the angles before glueing and couldn't get this bit of pipe out, no matter what I did. Eventually using a hairdryer to heat the fitting a bit managed to yank the pipe out. Saved an otherwise pointless 50km round trip Monday to get...

Scorchio here today, was 42 deg. earlier and I had to move the car this afternoon, although it was fully covered in a carport it said 46 when I switched it on. It's punishing.

I'm not surprised, that sort of thing can come out of the blue. We have got quite a lot of stuff from my grandmother's house (she died 22 years ago) and the whole house faintly smelled of a particular perfume, I don't know what it was. Every now and then I might find something which still has...

That sounds like quite an undertaking for anyone. I've done another bookshelf today though some of the books are still in boxes and there are more though they've got box files rather than books on them. The circumstances of what you are doing are very poignant I would imagine.

Indeed  Funny you both should say that - when I took the papers to the nice lady in the post office to change the status to 'Historic', which has to be done when physically taxing it, I said I might SORN it later while carrying out work. She said why bother when the tax is free? So...

A grand as a deposit sounds a bit steep. If it was 20k/30k maybe as you say, but not for something a lot cheaper.

I'm going to check it again but something's amiss, either they have not received it or not picked it up, unless the tracking is fouled up. That has happened before. That post office woman sounds a nightmare. I had a similar situation once with a parcel which went missing although I posted it...

Yep - I tend to use those strong veg boxes from supermarkets to move things and if you get the deep ones, its possible to fill them such that you can't lift them.

Been tied up moving some books over the weekend. Its amazing how many boxes are needed to clear one set of bookshelves, bit like when digging a hole - how the hell did all that earth fit in there?
