    Rear wiper blades...

I needed a new blade and rushed off to Halfords to buy a generic Bosch one (SP13 super plus universal). £8 later I took it home and tried to fix it to the wiper arm. Now I'm obviously missing the point but the clever fixing mechanism on the blade did not match up with the arm in any way I...

    Unbend plastic door trim....

Ha Ha Ha! How I laughed today when I put the double sided tape onto the trim and offered it up to the door. The trim fits onto a part of the panel that has a bend on it. I had very cleverly flattened that bend out of the trim  So now I've got to try and put the bend back in! The...

    Unbend plastic door trim....

Thanks I did wonder if this would be the excuse to buy a heat gun - but I feared a hairdrier would be hot enough :) This is the door, not the wheelarch and clamping it in place is not easy (at least for me it isn't). So I'm wondering about clamping it to some wood and then transferring it...

    Unbend plastic door trim....

Disco + Post = dented door and bent door trim :( The metal has popped back ok(ish) but the plastic door trim warped during the impact and/or set that way before I got to work on it. It won't stay flush with the door now - even with new double sided trim sticky tape. So I want to...

    Heated screen woes...

I wired my screen up yesterday. First I cleaned the contacts so I could see metal and not burned on dirt. I added a little wd40 for lack of electrical contact cleaner Then, with ignition and heated screen on, I checked the voltage at the contacts and got around 14v - (0v when the screen was...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Cleaned out the LHS heated screen connector and plugged in both sides - now working. Cleaned the oil out of the Red connector to the ECU (Standard D2 stuff!) Topped up the coolant - doh! I still have a leak - probably the head gasket - one for sprint time I think!

What have you done to your Landie today.

Yeah - it seems to have rained every day of my holiday! The jobs on my D2 are just mounting I have to clean out the red connector on the ecu (it still seems to be oozing out 3 years after I changed the gasket! Albeit only a small amount every few months now) I've got to fix the heated...

fuel gauge problems - dash related...

Cool - Now to find the allegedly elusive panel in the boot. I've never been much of a carpet fitter so I hope this is easier than the bathroom carpet (probably why I was more prepared to take the dash apart!) Cheers

fuel gauge problems - dash related...

My fuel gauge is playing up - One minute it has 3/4 of a tank, the next its very empty and the light is on, then soon after its 1/2 full! The dash was recently taken out to replace some pipes leading to the heater matrix. More recently the transfer box and clutch was taken out. Given...

D2 - One owner since new...

Darn it! I knew it was too good to last :( 33mpg? Hmm, is this a wind-up? Or does it just leak that much fuel when you coast down the hill from home to the shops and towed home by the AA? You may also have the furthest driven D2 - Another jewel in your crown! In a pre-teen tantrum at...

D2 - One owner since new...

I see there is another crown - furthest travelled in shortest time from new - but I cannot think of a way of measuring that and, anyway, I'm not a contender :) I can only imagine the long term/distance D2 owners are busy preparing for Christmas. I'll give it time before I buy myself a...

Is their anything wrong with an 18mm socket?

So in a nutshell... I have old socket sets made by penny pinching manufacturers who took advantage of metrification to skimp on a metric equivalent to an uncommon imperial size despite the fact that all the imported cars were metric and used every size they could think of including 18mm, then...

Is their anything wrong with an 18mm socket?

I changed my track rod the other day. Getting the rod off was easy enough - I undid the nut with an 18mm spanner A few blows with a hammer and it was off. Then it came to putting the new one back on - and getting the torque right. Ah! Out comes my trusty torque wrench and I start the...

Gear change problems - the works...

The typical problem is not being able to get it into reverse, the worse it gets the more other gears are affected. That said, a leading indicator for me the first time was it slipping out of 5th gear as I drove along - this later developed into the reverse gear problem. This time it went...

D2 - One owner since new...

What has it cost me? Erm, lots - but I try to ignore that :o She is still turning in around 27mpg which isn't too bad for her size/age. But a recent clutch replacement means she drives really smoothly. She drops an oil of some sort on the drive and still drinks too much coolant If...

D2 - One owner since new...

I didn't reckon I'd make it past 5pm I'm up to 8 hours so I'm doing better than I could have hoped :) As to the drive, well D3s and D4s are too armchairy/expensive for me and they'd stopped selling D1s when I had the money burning a hole in my wallet. And, yes, its come to be part of the...

Gear change problems - the works...

Ah! Now that is interesting. When I did the bias plate before there was sealant on the top plate. But the various directions and guides I'd read up on at that time mentioned nothing. Not having any to hand I presumed this had been done by the recon gearbox people for off-roaders and/or...

D2 - One owner since new...

I thought this would be a bit of Christmas fun... A long time ago I was flush for once and decided to invest a whole chunk of money in a brand new D2 Sadly I am now as poor as the next landrover owner but my investment has lead to 12 years/190k miles of very satisfying driving (and a car...

Gear change problems - the works...

Yes, urbanpanzer's website was the reference for my first D2 job (oil in the injector wiring harness) - A really good reference site - so good I actually sent him some money! Not a lot mind :) Flushed with my initial success I thought about doing the D1 CDL mod but, to be honest, I don't really...
