How do you check a wheel bearing?

Hi The tyres are worn on the inside like you say. But would it still change pitch when turning the wheel whilst driving?

    Vibration at approx 1750 rpm?

Hi All My 2000 diesel Freelander has an annoying vibration at around 1750 rpm. It just buzzes as it goes through this. For want of a better description, it feels like the exhaust is vibrating on the body somewhere, although its not. Any ideas on what this could be? Many thanks.

    mpg v8 - 200tdi

I used to average 30 -32 mpg from my 93 200TDi. This was after i had it set up (or optimised as they call it) by Van Aaken. Before that it used to average slightly less than 30mpg.

How do you check a wheel bearing?

Hi All I have a noisy bearing on my 2000 Freelander diesel. I think (read hope) its a wheel bearing as the pitch changes when you turn the steering wheel. It gets louder if you turn to the right. Normally on a car I would just jack it up and spin the wheel and see which one the noise was...

New freelander owner after some ownership advice.

I found Ashcrofts website, thanks. For the benefit of the archives they say, "To check the condition of your viscous coupling unit : 1) Jack up one rear wheel 2) put an 18" bar through the rear prop UJ and try to turn it. 3) it should turn slowly with resistance Please note even a good one will...

    TD4 fuel filter

Diesel is fuel but alss the lubricant for the pump. Running water in a pump would be like running an engine without oil! Does the car not start at all? If it does would it run at revs and just die on idle, or not even rev? The problem is MAF sensors and some others dont always throw up fault...

    TD4 fuel filter

I'm new to these Land Rover things but as I understand it on a common rail diesel, the fuel line is presurised and there's a solenoid that releases diesel into the injector. So if the fuel pump is working then you shouldn't have a fuel delivery problem. I think in the brief reading up i have...

New freelander owner after some ownership advice.

I just set the tyres from 26 front and 34 rear to 30 all round, but the noise is still there. :( I think its a front wheel bearing? If you are doing say 50 mph in a straight line the noise gets louder if you turn the steering wheel slightly to the right and quieter if you turn the wheel...

    EGR valve

Hi Mate I had a Toyota Estima and those and the Pajero things are well known for EGR valve problems. My symptoms were rough running at low revs. The car would "hunt" or lurch at light throttle openings. It was also very thirsty on diesel. But the biggest give away was the smoke screen when...

New freelander owner after some ownership advice.

Hi All Thanks for the replys. :) I've had a quick look over it. I noticed the rear tyres were worn on the inside and the fronts are new. So after reading this could cause problems I swapped the front to rears etc. I noticed its had a new rear diff. The serial number is tvk100380 which I believe...

New (old) Freelander owner saying hi!

Hi All New guy here.:) I owned a 200 Tdi Discovery many years ago and 5 problem free years of ownership with nothing but good memories to draw on made us decide to return to Land Rover ownership. We've decided to push the boundaries a bit though and chance our arms with a...
