I had a giant clunk and juddering when pulling away, pulled the shafts and there was a large amount of play at the drive flanges (I'm on 180k odd as well). Swapped the shafts and flanges for brand new ones and the play and most of the clunk has gone away. I did try various combinations of the...

They look like the 'good' ones with 17mm hex head on one side, so will order some of them with the bits and bobs for doing the bearings, suspected they might be something special and didn't want to use any old crap so thanks for letting me know on that one :)

Forgot to add its a 1994 110 station wagon, with 24 spline rear axle and disc brakes :confused: it's ex AA and allegedly went via special vehicles

I've just changed my rear half shafts and drive flanges, as they were all worn, full of play, and causing a big clunk when pulling off. The play has gone, the clunk has almost gone (A frame ball joint is the next task) While i was taking it apart, I noticed the bolts for the drive flanges...

I've bought a 1994 110 csw, but it needs a few things doing to bring it up to snuff. I planned on insuring it alongside my peugeot 306 as a second car while I get it right enough to rely on as my only car, then ditch the peugeot at insurance renewal time. So far I'm not getting any decent...

I'm sure this has been covered before, but searching just came up with engine differences. Apart from the engine and box, are there many differences between 200 & 300tdi Defenders? The one I've seen is a 1994 200tdi, and looks like its right on the changeover. Would this be 10 or 24 spline...

Turns out I was talking ****e, ignore me :D It's the new (L405) range rover that is monocoque, the Disco 4 and RRS have a different setup ('integrated body frame' mounted on a ladder frame chassis). The other halfs uncle works for LR, I can ask the question if nobody else knows!

They are monocoque construction so not a chassis as such....

If it were me I'd take the axles off with the wheels and sell separate, sell the front seats to someone wanting to put them in a series, and go from there....actually thats pretty much what I did with mine

Doors and glass don't shift easily either so dunno where you got 150 for that from...mine ended up going to the crusher even though they were in perfect nick!
