    James had a very direct solution but I'm wondering about revisiting the damage to the loom to see if I missed some damage - or even pulled a wire off while I was trying to get getter access to the loom by trying to pull it a little closer. Picture of the damage here by the way..

    Thanks folks. I have a horrible feeling the electrons somewhere in the immobiliser circuit are fried. The loom that had warn through also feeds the spider as well as the lights at the back. I think the best thing to do is dump the immobiliser. Its just a bloody nuisance.

    My 1986 2.5 LR90 will do 75+. It takes a while to get there and I have to slow down for all but the most gental bends though!
